About the Barn Theatre & Ingleside House

The Barn Theatre is an award-winning producing house committed to creating bold, innovative, and high-quality theatre. Our mission is to entertain, inspire, and engage audiences by developing outstanding productions and fostering talent. With a vibrant programme of in-house productions, co-productions, touring shows, and more recently west end transfers, we are dedicated to artistic excellence and audience development.

Alongside the Theatre is Ingleside House & Teatro Bar & Restaurant.

Role Overview

The Group Head of Sales & Marketing is a pivotal hands on leadership role responsible for developing and implementing a dynamic sales, marketing, communications, and audience development strategy to grow our audiences, maximise ticket sales, and elevate the Barn Theatre’s brand locally, nationally, and internationally alongside the adjacent businesses, Ingleside House & Teatro as a packaged experience.

The successful candidate will be a strategic and creative thinker with strong leadership skills, commercial acumen, and a deep understanding of how to drive audience engagement, develop new business, and deliver exceptional content.

Key ResponsibilitiesMarketing & Communications

· Develop and execute integrated marketing campaigns to drive ticket sales, bookings, engagement, and brand awareness for The Barn, Ingleside House & Teatro.

· Lead audience development strategies to grow and diversify attendance.

· Oversee the Barn’s brands across all platforms and communications.

· Create and commission compelling copy, visual assets, and digital content aligned with our artistic vision.

· Manage CRM and digital marketing platforms (including Spektrix), using data to inform campaign strategies and ensure a high-quality customer experience.

· Develop strong relationships with media outlets, secure press coverage, and manage PR activity.

· Collaborate with internal departments to support fundraising and community engagement initiatives.

· Line manage the marketing and box office/FOH teams, overseeing budget allocation and reporting on performance.

Barn Digital Media (BDM) Leadership

· In time, once established, there may be an entrepreneurial opportunity for the right individual to also aspire to run and develop BDM on a separate business serving the UK theatre industry.

Person SpecificationEssential

· Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a senior marketing, sales or communications role within the arts or creative sector.

· Proven experience in developing and executing high-impact marketing and audience development campaigns.

· Commercial mindset, with experience in client management, project delivery, and revenue generation.

· Strong digital marketing knowledge including CRM systems, social media strategy, and data analytics.

· Excellent leadership, team management, and interpersonal skills.

· Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

· Strong project management and problem-solving abilities.

· A passion for theatre and a commitment to audience accessibility and engagement.

Desirable

· Experience with Spektrix or similar ticketing/CRM systems.

· Familiarity with content creation tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, etc.).

· Experience working in or with a content agency or creative production environment.

· Understanding of commercial partnerships, touring models, and arts fundraising.
