Full job description

We are a small, relationship-led home care company supporting private clients in their own homes across Canterbury and nearby areas.

We are looking for kind, reliable carers who want stable hours, regular clients and enough time to provide calm, dignified care. Our care is not rushed or task-driven. We focus on building trust, supporting independence and helping clients feel safe and respected at home.

This role would suit someone who enjoys working with older people, communicates clearly, and takes pride in providing thoughtful, dependable care.

Location: Canterbury and surrounding areas

Pay: £14.00 per hour, plus paid travel time and mileage

What we offer

  • £14.00 per hour starting rate
  • Paid travel time between visits
  • Mileage paid at 35p per mile
  • Guaranteed hours from the outset, usually starting between 10 and 30 hours per week, depending on your availability
  • Opportunity to increase hours as the business grows
  • Regular clients and a consistent rota wherever possible
  • Paid training
  • Work phone provided
  • Supportive, accessible management
  • Clear communication and a respectful working environment
  • Annual pay progression for reliable, high-performing carers

Availability we are looking for

We are especially interested in applicants who can offer regular availability during the week, some early evenings and alternate weekends.

Our busiest care times are usually:

  • Weekday mornings and lunchtimes
  • Some early evenings
  • Alternate weekends

You do not need to be available all day every day. We will agree on guaranteed hours based on the availability you can reliably commit to.

This role is best suited to someone looking for regular, long-term work rather than occasional ad hoc shifts.

What you will be doing

You will support clients in their own homes with a mixture of companionship, personal care and practical help.

This may include:

  • Providing companionship and reassurance
  • Supporting personal care, washing, dressing and mobility
  • Preparing meals and drinks
  • Helping clients maintain routines and independence
  • Following individual care plans
  • Noticing and reporting changes in wellbeing
  • Communicating professionally with clients, families and healthcare professionals
  • Recording accurate care notes
  • Supporting clients with dignity, privacy and patience

Our visits are designed to be calm, respectful and relationship-led.

Experience and suitability

Previous care experience is preferred, especially domiciliary care experience. However, we will also consider applicants with significant unpaid caring experience, strong people skills and the right values.

You may be a good fit if you are:

  • Reliable and punctual
  • Warm, patient and respectful
  • Comfortable working independently
  • Organised and able to follow instructions
  • Confident speaking with older people and their families
  • Observant and willing to report concerns promptly
  • Looking for stable, meaningful work with regular clients

Communication requirement

Clear spoken and written English is essential for safe care delivery.

You must be able to read and follow care plans, write accurate care notes, report concerns, speak clearly with clients and families, and contact the office or emergency services when needed.

This requirement is about client safety, accurate record keeping and good communication with elderly clients.

Essential requirements

  • Full UK driving licence
  • Access to your own vehicle
  • Right to Work in the UK
  • Reliable availability for agreed shifts
  • Clear spoken and written English for safe care delivery
  • Willingness to provide personal care where required
  • Able to work in Canterbury and the surrounding areas

Please note that we are not currently able to offer visa sponsorship.

About the role

This is a domiciliary care role, so you will travel between clients’ homes during your working day.

Because we pay travel time and mileage, we try to plan sensible local rounds and prioritise applicants who are based near the areas we support.

We work with privately funded clients, which allows us to focus on regular visits, consistent carers and enough time to provide a more considered standard of care.

Ready to apply?

If you are a caring, reliable person looking for stable hours, fair pay and a more thoughtful approach to home care, we would like to hear from you.

Click Apply Now on Indeed and complete our short application form.

Please include your general availability, your location and any previous care experience.

We respond promptly and aim to keep the process straightforward.

Pay: From £14.00 per hour

Benefits:

  • Paid training
