Full job description

New Start Living Residential Ltd is a children's residential service for children aged 07 -17. We have open vacancies within our organisation for child support workers who can be a positive role model in offering care to children and young people.

We are looking for enthusiastic support workers who can engage well with children and young people providing a high quality of care and support for our children and young people fostering positive outcomes. Our homes are of a modern standard, and we believe in providing a safe and homely environment for our young people and staff.

Person Specification

Job Title: Children's Residential Support Worker

Location: New Start Living Residential Ltd (Swindon)

Reporting to: Manager

Education / Qualities

Essential:

Passion to work with Children & Young people

Level 3 Diploma in residential child care or equivalent

Commitment to ongoing training either face to face or E-Learning Training

Full UK driving license

Experience:

Understanding of Children's Young Person Support Provision

Experience of working in Social Care/support either paid/voluntary work (this can include family/friends)

Knowledge:

Basic Understanding of Health and Safety issues

Understanding of Care / Support Principles

Knowledge of Health and Safety issues

Skills:

Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team

Able to communicate in an effective and both written and verbal manner

Ability to display empathy to all

Ability to maintain confidentiality

Able to handle difficult situations with minimum supervision

Able to carry out household duties

Basic Administrative skills

Knowledge of the support Industry and surrounding regulations and legislation

Commitment to own professional and personal development

Personal attributes:

Available for work with flexible hours to meet the needs of each child

Pleasant manner with a smart appearance

Self-Motivated and can cope with change

Physically capable of manual handling

Good planning skills

Sensitive to and aware of each individual daily needs

Additional Requirements:

2 Satisfactory employment/education references, 1 Satisfactory character reference (if previously worked in children care we will obtain all references for the past 5 years)

Where driving company vehicles for working purposes, must provide copy of full UK driving licence

We currently have the follow shifts available:

  • 14 hours per week
  • 28 hours per week
  • 42 hours per week
  • 1 - 2 sleep in shifts per week
  • Salary listed is for full time contract
  • (Higher end of salary is inclusive of 2 sleeps per week at £70 per night)
