Job Overview

The Healthcare Assistant (Research) supports the delivery of clinical research studies across Medica Research’s sites. Working under the supervision of the Principal Investigator, the postholder assists with participant care, study procedures, and administrative processes required to run trials safely, compliantly, and to a high standard of patient experience.

Duties and Responsibilities

Welcome and support research participants throughout their visit, ensuring a comfortable and professional experience.

Assist with clinical observations (e.g. vital signs, height/weight, ECGs) under supervision, within competency.

Support sample collection, labelling, processing, and preparation for courier/lab dispatch per protocol.

Maintain accurate source documents and case report forms (CRFs), ensuring GCP-compliant record keeping.

Assist with participant recruitment: screening calls, appointment scheduling, and reminder communications.

Prepare consultation rooms and equipment ahead of study visits; manage stock of trial supplies and consumables.

Support informed consent processes administratively (without conducting consent discussions unless qualified).

Liaise with GPs, Research Physicians, and sponsor/CRA teams as directed.

Maintain confidentiality and data protection standards (GDPR, trial-specific SOPs).

Support site inspection/audit readiness by keeping files and documentation organised.

Experience Required

Previous experience as a Healthcare Assistant, Phlebotomist, or similar clinical support role (primary/secondary care).

Experience with venepuncture and basic clinical observations.

Understanding of patient confidentiality and safeguarding principles.

Prior exposure to clinical research/GCP an advantage, not essential (training provided).

Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

Good communication skills, comfortable working with patients and multidisciplinary teams.

IT literacy (EMIS/SystmOne and basic Office applications).

Pay: £25,420.00-£28,000.00 per year
