Design Sales Consultant – Retail & Trade

Location: Chelsea Showroom, London

With a strong focus on UK manufacturing, craftsmanship, and elevated design, we create statement pieces that combine comfort, quality, and timeless style. Our Chelsea showroom is a flagship destination where customers, interior designers, and trade professionals experience the brand firsthand.

The Role

We are looking for a confident and commercially driven Design Sales Consultant to join our Chelsea showroom. This role combines retail sales with trade relationship management, offering the opportunity to work directly with homeowners, interior designers, developers, and property professionals.

You will guide customers through the full sales journey, from design consultation to order placement, while building strong relationships with trade clients and generating repeat business. This is a customer facing position suited to someone passionate about interiors, luxury retail, and high value sales.

Key Responsibilities

- Deliver exceptional showroom experiences for retail customers

- Provide expert advice on sofas, beds, fabrics, layouts, and styling

- Conduct in showroom and virtual design consultations

- Manage sales enquiries from initial contact through to order completion

- Build and maintain relationships with interior designers, developers, architects, and trade clients

- Identify and develop new trade opportunities within the local market

- Follow up leads, quotations, and customer enquiries to maximise conversion

- Achieve personal sales targets across both retail and trade channels

- Support showroom merchandising and maintain premium visual standards

- Keep up to date with product knowledge, fabric collections, and design trends

- Collaborate with customer service and operations teams to ensure smooth order delivery

- Represent the OPA Living brand with professionalism and attention to detail

Requirements

- Proven experience in furniture, interiors, luxury retail, or showroom sales

- Strong understanding of customer service and consultative selling

- Comfortable working with both residential and trade clients

- Commercially minded with a target driven approach

- Excellent communication and relationship building skills

- Passion for interiors, design, and premium products

- Ability to manage multiple enquiries and projects simultaneously

- Confident using CRM systems and sales platforms

- Flexible to work weekends and peak retail trading periods

Desirable Experience

- Experience within luxury furniture or interior design retail

- Existing network of interior designers or property professionals

- Knowledge of fabrics, upholstery, and spatial planning

- Previous trade account management experience
