Description of role:

As part of the Materials Performance and Integrity Group, we are looking for an experienced materials engineer to join the ‘Materials Performance and Characterisation’ Section of TWI, in Cambridge, United Kingdom. This exciting role is envisaged to support our wide-ranging technical undertakings, from rapid turn-round failure investigations, to advanced materials characterisation and testing, to long-term R&D programmes, for our clients from diverse industrial sectors. This vacancy seeks a dedicated and enthusiastic material engineer, with solid knowledge of metallic materials, that can drive applied research, primarily in metallurgical and corrosion assessments, through testing and characterisation of a wide range of alloys including carbon steels, stainless steels and nickel alloys. The role involves working closely with internal cross-functional teams within TWI Group, and external clients and technology partners.

This position requires a large portion of lab based working, primarily from the Cambridge Office. Desk based activities can currently be carried out remotely. Flexible working hours can be accommodated; however, TWI’s long-term strategy has not yet been defined.
