Full job description

Role Overview

As a Cook/Barista at Magazine Heaven, you’ll be at the heart of our café’s creative kitchen. You’ll take pride in crafting fresh, delicious dishes that reflect our love for quality, flavour, and individuality, and preparing our Artisan specialist coffee. This is a hands-on role for a passionate cook who enjoys working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where great food and great ideas come together.

Please note that this role will be a fully flexible 15 hours across 7 days.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook a variety of fresh dishes to a consistently high standard.
  • Utilise your Barista skills with our locally sourced Artisan Coffee
  • Contribute to menu development, bringing creativity and innovation to our food offering.
  • Ensure all food is presented beautifully and in line with Magazine Heaven’s quality standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen at all times.
  • Oversee stock rotation, manage inventory levels, and assist with ordering.
  • Adhere to all food safety, hygiene, and allergen protocols.
  • Work collaboratively with the café team to ensure smooth service and a great customer experience.
  • Support and guide junior kitchen or café team members when required.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a chef or cook role (café, restaurant, or similar).
  • Passionate about fresh, high-quality food and creative presentation.
  • Barista experience
  • Strong multitasking and time management skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of food hygiene and safety standards.
  • A team player who thrives in a busy, supportive environment.
  • Weekend availability is essential.
