Job Title: Database Engineer (Python & SQL)

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Database Engineer with experience in Python, SQL, and data management to join our growing technology team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, optimizing, and maintaining database systems while ensuring data integrity, security, and high performance. This role is ideal for professionals who enjoy working with large datasets and building scalable database solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain relational database systems.
  • Develop and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and database objects.
  • Write Python scripts for database automation, data processing, and ETL tasks.
  • Monitor database performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal performance.
  • Perform database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and security across all database environments.
  • Collaborate with software developers, data engineers, and business analysts to support application and reporting requirements.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for database architecture and processes.
  • Assist in database migration, upgrades, and performance tuning initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience as a Database Engineer, Database Developer, or similar role.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server, or Oracle).
  • Good programming experience with Python.
  • Experience with database design, normalization, indexing, and query optimization.
  • Knowledge of ETL processes and data integration techniques.
  • Familiarity with database backup and recovery procedures.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with cloud databases such as AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database, or Google Cloud SQL.
  • Familiarity with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or Cassandra.
  • Experience with Data Warehousing concepts.
  • Knowledge of Apache Airflow, SSIS, or other ETL tools.
  • Understanding of Linux environments and shell scripting.
  • Experience using Git for version control.
  • Relevant database or cloud certifications are a plus.
