Full job description

Build the software behind carbon removal.

To reach net zero, the world must remove billions of tonnes of CO2 from the atmosphere every year. At Puro.earth, we provide the certification infrastructure that turns carbon removal into a tangible, bankable, and scalable global asset. Built on scientific rigor and trust, and backed by Nasdaq, we are scaling the carbon removal economy worldwide. The software we build is the backbone of that market, and we want you to help us build it.

Why this role matters

We are a small, ambitious tech team building modern, secure, cloud native services that connect carbon removal suppliers, buyers, and partners around the world. We are moving toward an AI assisted software development lifecycle and agentic engineering practices, and every member of the team, including this role, takes an active part in getting us there. AI amplifies our engineering capability. Your judgment, craft, and ownership make it count.

What you will do

  • Design, build, and ship production ready web applications and services end to end, from concept to deployment and operation.
  • Work hands on across our stack: React and TypeScript frontends, serverless APIs and secure authentication on Azure, PostgreSQL databases, and LLM powered capabilities such as intelligent search and automation.
  • Use agentic AI tools in your daily work: planning, coding, testing, reviewing, and automating, while applying strong engineering judgment to everything AI produces.
  • Take an active role in our move toward agentic engineering: adopt and refine practices, apply what works, and share what you learn with the rest of the team.
  • Automate the repetitive, simplify the complex, and continuously improve our architecture, developer experience, and delivery pipelines (GitHub Actions, infrastructure as code).
  • Work closely with our product team in London, and collaborate with colleagues, partners, and sometimes customers, turning real needs into pragmatic, reliable software.
  • Own outcomes, not just tasks. You will see your work go live and make a measurable difference to the carbon removal market.

What we are looking for

  • A university degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven hands on experience with agentic, AI assisted software engineering: you already build real software with AI coding agents, know how to get quality results from them, and are eager to help others do the same.
  • Not hard requirements, but a definite plus: experience with vector databases and semantic search, familiarity with agent orchestration frameworks or the Model Context Protocol (MCP), and experience evaluating and testing LLM outputs (prompt evals, guardrails, reducing hallucinations).
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals: system design, testing, security, debugging, and operational excellence.
  • Solid experience with modern web development (React, Next.js, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS) and cloud native, serverless architecture, ideally on Azure, plus CI/CD with GitHub Actions and infrastructure as code with tools such as Pulumi, and the proven ability to learn new technologies quickly.
  • Excellent communication skills with technical and non technical stakeholders, including partners and, at times, customers.
  • A positive, can do approach: you take initiative, embrace challenges, find a way forward in ambiguity, and follow through until things work in production.
  • Curiosity and a genuine appetite for feedback and continuous learning.

Where and how you will work

This is a remote role based in the United Kingdom, London area. You will report to the Head of Tech, who is based in Finland, and work day to day with our product team in London, meeting them face to face from time to time. You will also travel to Finland, approximately once per quarter, to spend time with the tech team and other Puro.earth stakeholders. In short: remote first, with regular, purposeful in person time on both sides of the North Sea.

What we offer

  • Purpose you can measure: your code directly supports the removal of CO2 from the atmosphere.
  • Modern, AI assisted ways of working that the whole team develops together, with real influence on how we build software.
  • High ownership and visible impact in a small, senior, collaborative team.
  • The stability of a Nasdaq backed company combined with the energy of a pioneering market.
  • Room to grow as the carbon removal industry, and our platform, scales globally.

Our values

  • Innovators: we lead change, take initiative, and create new paths.
  • Innovators: we lead change, take initiative, and create new paths.
  • Partners in Trust: we act with integrity and place our trust in science, global cooperation, and each other
  • One Team: we work as one with colleagues, customers, and partners.

How to apply

Send us your CV together with a short note about something you have recently built with AI assisted or agentic engineering, and what you learned from it. We review applications on a rolling basis and would love to have you on board soon.

Puro.earth is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and are committed to a fair, inclusive hiring process.
