Job Summary

We are seeking an energetic and dedicated Breakfast Chef/Kitchen Porter (KP) to join our vibrant culinary team at The Black Boy in headington. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking delicious breakfast dishes, maintaining high standards of food safety and cleanliness, and supporting the smooth operation of the kitchen. Your enthusiasm and attention to detail will help create a welcoming atmosphere for our guests and ensure every morning starts with a satisfying meal. This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your culinary skills in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where teamwork and quality are at the forefront. The role will be from 5 to 7 days a week from 9am until 12pm

Duties

  • Prepare and cook breakfast items according to established recipes and standards, ensuring consistency and quality.
  • Assist with food preparation tasks such as chopping, peeling, and portioning ingredients to streamline kitchen operations.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, including washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and disposing of waste properly.
  • Support the serving team by ensuring all food is presented attractively and served promptly to guests.
  • Follow food safety protocols diligently to uphold hygiene standards and prevent contamination or spoilage.
  • Restock kitchen supplies, ingredients, and utensils as needed to ensure smooth service during busy periods.
  • Collaborate with team members to deliver excellent customer service and create a positive dining experience for all guests.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or kitchen roles within a restaurant or hospitality setting.
  • Knowledge of culinary techniques, meal preparation processes, and food safety regulations.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Strong understanding of kitchen hygiene practices and safety procedures.
  • Excellent teamwork skills with a proactive attitude towards assisting colleagues.
  • Previous experience in serving or supporting front-of-house operations is advantageous but not essential.
  • Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, or shifts as required by the service schedule.
