Full job description

Nationwide Pathology Limited is a UKAS accredited private pathology laboratory located in Market Harborough, Leicestershire. We pride ourselves on providing an extensive and diverse range of pathology testing with same-day turnaround and excellent customer service.

Our ever-expanding team is looking to recruit a Band 5 Biomedical Scientist to fill a multi-disciplinary role with an emphasis on Microbiology. The candidate must be competent and confident in interpreting and reporting all aspects of microbiology analysis. Working as part of a small team, this is an excellent opportunity to further and develop your skills, knowledge and experience.

You will perform laboratory testing using several different methods and machines to ensure that clients receive quick and accurate results. Duties will also include sample preparation, the routine operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentation, technical validation and clinical authorisation of results, stock control and ordering supplies.

You will have outstanding organisational skills and an in-depth knowledge of microbiology including bacteriology, mycology and parasitology. This is a great chance to make a significant scientific contribution to the development of this area of our laboratory, as you will be assist Seniors in planning changes to working practices and developing our services.

To be considered for this role, candidates must:

- hold a Biomedical Science (Hons) degree or an IBMS accredited equivalent post-graduate qualification
- be HCPC registered
- have at least 3 years' experience working in Microbiology in a professional laboratory
- have a high level of verbal and written communication skills
- have their own transport

Candidates must also maintain the following qualities:

- be able to problem solve when necessary
- be reliable
- enthusiastic and motivated
- be an active team player

This is a part-time role. Hours are flexible, but must include every Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
