Full job description

Arlington Landscapes builds bespoke, design-led gardens across Bristol and Bath. We work with leading garden designers and architects, using natural stone, reclaimed materials, metal work and timber to make spaces that feel grounded, naturalistic and built to last. Our work won Best Construction, Best in Show and Gold at RHS Badminton 2026, and we built a large feature garden at RHS Hampton Court 2024.

We're looking for a Team Leader to run one of our two site teams. You'll turn a designer's drawings into a finished garden, leading a small crew from breaking ground to client handover, and making sure every day on site is planned, safe and productive.

What you'll do:

  • Lead a team of two to three landscapers and labourers on residential projects worth £10k–£200k, within 30 miles of Bristol
  • Read and set out from design drawings, levels and specifications, and flag problems before they become rework
  • Plan each week ahead: sequence the work, tell the office what materials you need and when, and keep the job to programme
  • Own health and safety on site: locating and protecting underground services, RAMS, site inductions, safe use of plant and power tools, and a tidy, secure site
  • Build across the full range of garden construction: groundworks and drainage, clay paver and natural stone paving, dry and mortared stone walling, cladding and tiling, woodwork, fencing and soft landscaping
  • Look after the team's tools and kit, and report damage or loss straight away
  • Keep clients and designers informed, professionally and calmly
  • Record progress, planned vs actual days and site photos in Connecteam each week

What we're looking for:

  • At least 3 years' experience in hard landscaping, including time running a site or team
  • Practical skill and knowledge across:
  • Groundworks: excavation, sub-bases, levels, falls and drainage
  • Small-format paving, including clay pavers, and natural stone paving
  • Natural stone walling, both dry-laid and in lime or cement mortar
  • Cladding and tiling
  • Woodworking: decking, steps and timber structures
  • Fencing
  • General soft landscaping: soil preparation, turfing and planting
  • Able to locate underground services and read utility plans
  • Simple metalwork and fabrication is a bonus, but not essential
  • An organised mind: plan tomorrow today
  • Polite, level-headed and non-confrontational
  • A genuine commitment to safe working and looking after equipment
  • Full UK driving licence (manual vans, towing a plus)
  • CSCS card; plant tickets (CPCS/NPORS) and first aid are an advantage

What you'll get

  • £34,000 – £38,000 salary depending on experience
  • 28 days' holiday including bank holidays
  • Company van for work use, tools and PPE provided
  • Workplace pension
  • Training and support to grow, including ticket and course funding
  • The chance to build gardens that win awards, with a team that cares about craft

Our culture

Arlington is an open and inclusive workplace for everyone. We have zero tolerance for sexism, racism, homophobia or any other form of discrimination, whether on site, in the yard or online. We expect everyone on the team to be polite, calm and sensible at all times with colleagues, clients, designers and neighbours.

To apply, send your CV and a few photos of work you've led.
