Professor David Lewis
Senior Scientific Officer
Salary: From £28,344 to £45,357 based on qualification and experience.
Contract: 18 months FTC- maternity cover
About us
The CRUK Scotland Institute is a cancer research institute, situated in Glasgow with approximately 250 researchers split across 30 research groups consisting of PIs, postdoctoral scientists, PhD students and scientific officers. It is one of Europe's leading cancer research centres, supporting cutting-edge work into the molecular mechanisms of cancer development. As well as core support from Cancer Research UK, the Institute also receives an additional third of its total income from external grants and industry collaborations. It has an excellent reputation for fundamental cancer research, including world-class metabolism studies and renowned in vivo modelling of tumour growth and metastasis.
Position outline
The Translational Molecular Imaging (TMI) facility, led by Professor David Lewis, is seeking a Senior Scientific Officer to provide maternity cover within the PET/MRI imaging team at the CRUK Scotland Institute. This is an excellent opportunity to take a central role in one of Europe's leading preclinical imaging facilities, supporting cutting-edge cancer research through advanced in vivo PET/MRI work.
Reporting to the Head of TMI, the successful candidate will provide imaging experiment support to researchers within the TMI and Molecular Imaging groups, as well as the wider Institute. This includes supporting multimodal preclinical imaging studies from protocol design and data acquisition through to data analysis and ex vivo validation, in relevant cancer mouse models, and staying abreast of developments in oncology PET imaging to bring new approaches into ongoing projects.
We're looking for a proactive, collaborative scientist with hands-on experience with mouse models of cancer. A PhD and previous experience in preclinical imaging (PET and/or MRI) are desirable but not essential — full training will be provided. Strong organisational and communication skills are essential, given the regular engagement with researchers and collaborators across the Institute. A track record of contributing to scientific publications, and genuine enthusiasm for solving technical problems in a fast-paced facility, will make you a great fit.
Join a dynamic, multidisciplinary team at a world-leading cancer research institute, gain exposure to state-of-the-art in vivo imaging technologies, and make a real impact on translational cancer research.
