PRIVATE MENTOR & DEVELOPMENT COACH (Private Household)
Location: West Sussex based, with international travel
Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday with significant flexibility

A private high-net-worth family is seeking an exceptional mentor and development support professional to primarily support their 14-year-old twin sons within a home-education environment.

The family also has an elder son, who is largely independent; however, the successful candidate should be comfortable working within a household that includes three teenage dependents, with the primary focus of the role centred on the twins.

This is a unique opportunity suited to a confident, emotionally intelligent individual who can provide structure, guidance and positive mentorship while helping establish consistency and routine in the teenagers’ daily lives.

The twins have been diagnosed with ADHD and additional SEN needs. They are bright, energetic and strong-willed young men who respond well to individuals who are patient, resilient and able to build trust whilst maintaining clear boundaries and expectations.

External tutors will deliver their core academic curriculum. The successful candidate will support this structure by helping reinforce learning where appropriate, assisting with homework when required, and most importantly designing and maintaining a structured and engaging daily programme that supports both educational development and personal growth, in and out of the home.

The role requires someone active, organised and proactive, able to keep the teenagers engaged through a combination of academic structure, physical activity and enriching experiences. One is passionate about jump biking, whilst the other is a very keen golfer, and the ideal candidate will be comfortable encouraging and participating in both of these interests as well as encouraging them to explore other avenues.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and oversee a structured daily routine and timetable Support the teenagers’ academic programme alongside external tutors
  • Assist with homework and academic organisation where required
  • Plan, coordinate and encourage educational, sporting and enrichment activities
  • Provide consistent mentorship, guidance and positive role modelling
  • Transport and accompany the teenagers to appointments, sessions and activities as required
  • Support basic health monitoring when required, including taking vitals, ensuring routines relating to medication and wellbeing are followed
  • Maintain structure, accountability and positive behavioural expectations
  • Provide proxy parenting when parents are travelling or away overnight, including overnight stays as required
  • Support the smooth running of a busy private household environment

WORKING PATTERN
This is a full-time Monday–Friday position, core hours 09:00-19:00 - flexibility is essential to accommodate ADHOC weekend commitments and/or travel.

The family operates a dynamic schedule, and the successful candidate must be comfortable adapting when plans change.

IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE

The family is seeking a grounded individual who combines mature emotional intelligence and confidence, is relatable and holds natural authority that the boys will respond to positively.

Suitable candidates may come from backgrounds including education, psychology, youth mentorship, pastoral care, coaching or mental health support.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • Experience working with teenagers, particularly those with ADHD or SEN Strong communication skills and high emotional intelligence
  • A sporty, active and energetic personality

Confidence in setting boundaries whilst maintaining a positive relationship

  • The ability to remain calm, consistent and solutions-focused
  • Discretion and professionalism within a private household environment
