Unique Children's Group have just opened a new children's home for Learning Disability children ages 8-18 years old.
After a successful opening hosted by the Directors along with fellow commissioners of the West & East Midlands, we are now looking for a passionate and enthusiastic manager to join our company.
Main Duties and Responsibilities not limited to:
- To implement and work in accordance with of all aspects of the Statement of Purpose for your service
- To manage a residential home and ensure the efficient operation of the service in accordance with the relevant legislation, procedures, policies and the Statement of Purpose for the home.
- Provision of a service which encompasses all areas of the SCIFF to a ‘GOOD’ or higher standard
- Responsibility for safeguarding and promoting individual rights; to provide good quality care which is free from oppression and where differences are respected and valued.
- To produce a development plan for the service that ensures the delivery of high quality, clinically informed practice.
- To support adults to achieve the highest standards of care for the children and young people.
- To co-ordinate and monitor casework and administrative functions of the home and evaluate standards of performance.
- To assist and supervise in the continual assessment of the needs of the children and young people, and to identify and prepare specific development plans to ensure the most appropriate service provision.
- To be involved in recruitment of the team including vetting, interviewing, and inducting new employees.
- To contribute to a comprehensive team training and development programme to enable the service to have available all necessary skills and levels of expertise to meet the needs of the young people.
- Maintain individual standards through continuous professional development, including keeping a record.
- Support the team to ensure longevity and good organisation retention.
- To contribute to the development of appropriate relationships with and between adults, young people and other stakeholders.
- Liaise with the various internal and external multi-disciplinary teams and commissioning authorities to ensure that the care needs of new and existing children and young people are met.
- To chair meetings, reviews and discussions as necessary.
- To ensure professional ethics and behaviour are demonstrated by all adults at all times.
- Actively co-ordinate the service provision and be a focal point for support, advice, and coaching to all adults within the home.
- To assist in the management, appraisal, supervision and support of all the residential team.
- To organise duty rotas in order to ensure that the needs of the young people are always met.
- To ensure that the company’s financial and administrative procedures are adhered to, and to work within a set budget.
- Ensure all professional practice and medication processes within the home are conducted in line with legislation.
- To work with other managers to ensure all adults work together and with others towards meeting the emotional and physical needs of the young people and planning for positive outcomes.
- To be accountable and take responsibility for liaising with regulatory organisations in relation to the way the home is managed.
- Register with the regulator and uphold requirements and conditions of this registration.
- Ensure all necessary documentation required by regulators is completed to a high standard, and be available for inspections, checks or interviews as requested.
- To promote appropriate and therapeutic relationships between adults, young people, and their families promoting the children and young people’s involvement and participation in the day-to-day life of the home.
- To be part of an on-call system.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment. Ensure that the physical state of the building is maintained to a high standard, and that all repair/maintenance problems are dealt with promptly.
- To participate in a range of corporate and management activities as defined by the directors.
- Any other such duties that may be required from time to time by the responsible individual, or their authorised representatives.
- Ensure that safe working practices are employed by all adults at all times in accordance with the health and safety at work legislation.
- Will co-operate with designated personnel exercising their responsibilities in relation to the Health and Safety at Work Act.
- Ensuring the safeguarding and high-quality care of all children and young people for up to 52 weeks acting as the designated safeguarding lead
- Acting in the best interests of all children and young people, respecting their privacy and dignity, and taking into account their wishes and feelings whilst promoting and supporting increasing levels of independence
- Ensuring children’s needs are effectively assessed and met, including care, social, health, diet and exercise as well as their pursuit of other activities and personal interests in the community
- Provide a clean, safe, secure, practical and homely environment at all times.
- Work in a multi-disciplinary team approach to monitor and evaluate the implementation of individual care and support plans for children within your home.
- Day-to-day line management of team leaders, and a leader to the team as a whole.
- Ensuring appropriate levels of suitable staffing have been implemented at all times, including on-call, rotas, night and sickness absence cover and off-site excursions
- Ensuring all current legislative requirements are met and any relevant changes are relayed to senior managers
- Promoting consistent best practices within your home
- Ensuring medication is administered, recorded and stored by trained responsible staff
- Monitoring health and safety/maintenance of the environment, including reporting incidents, accidents, infection control, COSHH and completion of all risk assessment processes
- Liaising with parents/carers/other professionals and Local Authorities as appropriate
- Ensuring all policies are kept up to date and effectively adhered to
- Management of all data and recording processes within your home and the ability to share this as and when requested
- Promotion of equality, diversity, rights and responsibilities of children and young people and staff in accordance with statutory requirements
- Establishing monitoring systems including regular audits and reviews of the quality as necessary
- Ensuring high professional standards of record keeping, reports, home correspondence and communication, ensuring these are maintained, up to date and accurate
- Ensuring appropriate and sufficient regular supervision of all staff is in place
- Managing delegated budgets and ensuring all company financial processes and procedures are followed correctly and within allocated budget
- To recruit, appoint, support, train and performance manage staff appropriately and according to all personnel procedures
- On-call commitments
Other:
- To report to the Responsible Individual in the event of awareness of bad practice, maladministration or health and safety issues.
- To undertake such other duties and responsibilities reasonably consistent with the role as may be required from time to time.
- To advise, as required, on professional matters within the area of competence of the post.
PERSON SPECIFICATION – Registered Manager
This post is subject to full DBS checking. The following will be tested in application/interview.
Qualifications: Essential
- A minimum RQF Level 4 (QCF level 3) or above Children’s Care Services
- Level 5 in leadership and management relevant to the role
- Current car driving license.
- Ofsted approval as registered manager
- Previous experience opening children's homes
Experience
- At least 2 years’ significant management experience in a care setting within the past 5 years, at a standard assessed as 'GOOD' in all aspects of the job.
- A minimum 4 years’ experience of working effectively with children with learning difficulties/challenging behaviour
Knowledge
Knowledge of relevant legislation:

Salary Package:
We have a unique and competitive salary package in place whereby you as a manager can earn (on top of your base salary) as a minimum from £4,569 every quarter. Your ratings will not effect this bonus.
Approximately £63k+ annual salary.
