The Role:
As a Lead Physicist – MR Linac, you’ll play a pivotal role in leading the radiotherapy physics service for MR-guided radiotherapy on site. Acting as a Medical Physics Expert (MPE), you will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team to deliver cutting-edge, adaptive MR-guided treatments, ensuring the highest standards of patient care, safety, and innovation.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead all aspects of MR Linac radiotherapy physics, including treatment planning, plan checking, and machine QA
  • Support daily adaptive MR-guided radiotherapy as part of the on-treatment multidisciplinary team
  • Act as the site Medical Physics Expert (MPE), ensuring safe and effective clinical delivery
  • Provide expert input into patient dosimetry, re-irradiation assessments, and complex treatment cases
  • Oversee and manage QA programmes for Linac, imaging systems, and dosimetry equipment
  • Collaborate with engineers on maintenance, troubleshooting, and performance optimisation of MR Linac technology
  • Train and support clinical teams, ensuring competency across planning, QA, and treatment processes
  • Contribute to research, innovation, and service development, including participation in clinical trials and publications
  • Support wider network initiatives, including commissioning and development of future MR Linac services

What You’ll Have:

  • Extensive experience as a Radiotherapy Physicist, with MPE certification (IRR17)
  • HCPC registration as a Clinical Scientist (Radiotherapy specialism)
  • Expertise in MR-guided radiotherapy, adaptive planning, and advanced treatment techniques
  • Strong knowledge of Linac QA, dosimetry, IMRT/VMAT planning, and imaging QA
  • Experience in research, innovation, and contributing to scientific publications
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
  • A proactive, collaborative mindset with a passion for delivering exceptional patient outcomes
