About the opportunity
This is an opportunity to register your interest in future SDET (Software Development Engineer in Test) roles. These positions could support the delivery of robust, scalable testing solutions across distributed systems and microservices architectures, helping to ensure quality and reliability at pace.
Roles of this type may sit within agile, collaborative engineering teams working across cloud platforms, containerized environments and modern CI/CD pipelines. The work could involve partnering with development teams to design and implement automated test frameworks, validate APIs and microservices, and maintain data quality across complex systems, with scope to improve testing practices and standards.
Typical role overview

- Type: Contract · Full-time
- Day Rate: £550–600 per day (senior); £250–280 per day (support level, dependent on experience)
- Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
- Domain: QA / Testing / Validation · Automation · Test Engineering
What you would do
Typical responsibilities could include:
- Designing and implementing automated test frameworks for APIs, microservices and distributed systems
- Developing and maintaining test automation across cloud environments (Azure, AWS, GCP) and containerized platforms (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Supporting CI/CD pipeline integration and test execution in continuous delivery workflows
- Writing test code in languages such as Java, Python or C# (.NET / ASP.NET) to validate application functionality
- Collaborating with development teams to identify, document and validate defects
- Maintaining test data quality and supporting data pipeline validation
- Troubleshooting test failures and contributing to improvements in test coverage and reliability
- Supporting SAP environments (SAP S/4HANA, SAP ECC, SAP RISE) where applicable to the role
- Contributing to test strategy and quality assurance practices within the team
What you could bring
Most roles of this type require the following:
Must-have
- Proven experience in test automation and software development engineering in test
- Strong proficiency in at least one programming language (Java, Python, C#, or equivalent)
- Hands-on experience with API and microservices testing
- Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and automated test execution
- Experience with SQL and relational databases
- Familiarity with distributed systems and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS or GCP)
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related discipline
- Right to work in the United Kingdom
Nice-to-have
- Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform)
- Familiarity with SAP systems (S/4HANA, ECC or RISE)
- Experience with data quality validation and ETL testing
- Linux or Windows system administration skills
- Exposure to Spring Boot, Spring Framework or React
- Power BI or advanced Excel proficiency
- Certifications in QA, BPMN, UML or related methodologies
