Marine Engineer

Twisted Marine are making waves in the marine industry and have recently acquired Scorpion RIBs in Lymington. We have three sites across the UK with service and support centres in Brighton and Salcombe. Lymington is our UK HQ for manufacturing and we are looking for Marine Engineers, talented boat builders, finishers and fitters to help us on our journey in making the best and most capable RIBs in the world.

The ideal candidate will have good experience in the marine industry having worked on a variety of projects. From engine installations to 12v and 240v electrical systems including dash components and ancillary systems. The successful applicant will have a well rounded knowledge of mechanical systems and marine packaging including operating environments.

The role has the following responsibilities but is not limited to the below:


Key Responsibilities and Duties:

Reporting to the Marine Operations Manager, you'll play a key role in leading the day-to-day engineering activities within the workshop. You'll be responsible for delivering first-class engineering standards while supporting and mentoring junior engineers, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently and to the highest quality.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll lead by example, helping to drive continuous improvement whilst maintaining the exceptional customer service standards Twisted Marine is known for.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out diagnostics, servicing, repairs and installations across a wide range of leisure vessels.

  • Lead complex fault-finding on 12v electrical systems, inboard and outboard propulsion systems.

  • Service, maintain and repair a variety of marine engines and propulsion systems.

  • Support the planning and allocation of workshop activities to ensure deadlines are achieved.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and apprentices.

  • Carry out commissioning, sea trials and testing of completed vessels.

  • Install and maintain navigation, heating, plumbing, water and ancillary marine systems.

  • Ensure all work is completed to the highest quality and in accordance with marine safety regulations.

  • Work closely with customers, providing technical advice and maintaining excellent relationships.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the workshop.

  • Promote high standards of housekeeping, safety and professionalism across the engineering team.


Key Skills and Competencies:

What We're Looking For
  • Previous experience as a Marine engineering role.

  • Experience working on PDI Engines

  • Sea Trials

  • PDI Service and warranties

  • Experience installing marine engines and associated systems is highly desirable.

  • Strong mechanical knowledge with excellent fault-finding skills.

  • Confident using a wide range of hand and power tools.

  • Ability to read engineering drawings and technical documentation.

  • High attention to detail with a passion for quality workmanship.

  • Positive attitude and the ability to work effectively within a close-knit team.

  • Own basic hand tools.

  • Full UK driving licence is advantageous.
