(GUL) – GUL operates in the Non-destructive Testing (NDT) industry and is the world leader in the development and manufacture of guided wave testing (GWT) equipment for the inspection of industrial structures. Overview of Vacancy:

Our Engineering Apprenticeship Programme offers candidates an exciting and rewarding opportunity to join a successful company based in Brentford, Greater London. At the end of the apprenticeship, suitable candidates will have achieved the qualification of HNC Electrical/Electronic Engineering, and the candidate will have accomplished Technician status. Completing the apprenticeship could lead to other career opportunities within GUL with in-house or sponsored training, such as an HND or Degree course in the relevant field.

College/University Graduates will not be considered.

Job Description:

The candidate will learn various skills to support the manufacture and assembly of the company's core products and occasionally assist in developing new products. The candidate will be required to work with general workshop tools and electric soldering irons, and training will be provided for their safe operations.

The candidate is expected to have a reasonable standard of numeracy skills required in many aspects of work. The work is exciting and varied; the candidate can perform specific tasks independently once they have received sufficient training. The candidate will report to and be managed by the production manager.

Training Programme:

We consider all candidates in different parts of their education journey from School Leavers in June 2024 to those who are currently in the programme, looking for sponsorship. Typically, the programme for school leavers will look like this:

Year 1: BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Engineering. (40 weeks’ full-time training at Kingston College).

Year 2 : BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Engineering. (One day release per week at Kingston College).

Years 3 & 4 : Additional training leading to BTEC Level 4 Diploma (HNC) in Electrical/Electronic Engineering. (One day release per week plus evening release at Kingston College but open to other colleges upon discussion).

25 days of annual leave, Company pension contribution, Private Health insurance, enrolment to company bonus scheme (following probation period and the BTEC Level 2 Diploma)

Personal Specification:

Excellent interpersonal skills, enthusiastic and friendly and able to learn new tasks quickly. Aptitude for electrical/electronic/mechanical engineering. Flexible and positive attitude to life.

Qualifications:
Minimum of 4 GCSEs at Grade A*-C/9-4 or equivalent, including Mathematics, English and a Science.

College/University Graduates will not be considered.

Skills:

The candidate should be comfortable working with tools/soldering irons and with a good level of numeracy. The candidate should also have basic computer and good interpersonal skills, as direct contact with suppliers is often required.

Annual Salary:

Starting from £19,000 per year (increasing to full technician salary once the training is completed)
