Medical Advisor Oncology jobs

This post will contribute to the provision of comprehensive and accessible Cancer Services across North Wales treating up to 150 new patients per year, with an estimated 550 patient reviews annually. Key elements of Cancer Care at BCUHB include provision of excellent cancer services as near as possible to the patient’s home and to expand the treatment options available to patients locally across North Wales.

Oncology Services at Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board are provided by a team of experienced Clinical Oncologists and Medical Oncologist teams working collaboratively, and all holding appointments at the relevant acute hospitals. Close collaboration will be essential in the management of SACT patients, Radiotherapy patients and Emergency Cases.

Key tasks:
To provide specialist oncological services to the population served with special reference to the common cancers and agreed appropriate oncology subspecialties and to be an active participant in each of these Multidisciplinary Teams.

To work closely with Clinical Consultant colleagues and to provide seamless cancer care for all patients.

To work closely with colleagues in other Divisions to assist in providing an efficient service for patients transferring between the different disciplines and during the patient journey.

To liaise with colleagues in Oncology, Haematology and Palliative Care to provide inpatient cover for oncology patients.

To develop a site specialist and research interest. This will include developing clinical research and entering patients into appropriate national and international studies.

To develop and participate in collaborative initiatives, having a high regard for Clinical Effectiveness and to the practice of Evidence-Based Medicine.
