Job Overview

The Role: Clinical Pharmacist (Independent Prescriber)

The Team: Leger / Lift Pharmacy

Hours: 37.5 hours, Full time, Permanent

Location: Hybrid* (remote / Lift Pharmacy, Suite 2C East Bridgford Business Park, NG13 8PJ)

We’re on a mission to transform men’s health through identifying and treating testosterone deficiency and associated conditions. For too long, men have put up with symptoms of low testosterone, not realising that treatment is available. Leger has been leading the way in testosterone replacement therapy since 1999.

Now, as part of the Medichecks’ family, we are entering the next stage of our development and are seeking to scale our services for eligible men. We provide a medically led, evidence-based, straight-talking service driven by specialist doctors and clinicians.

Purpose of this role

To deliver safe, effective, and scalable clinical services as an Independent Prescribing Pharmacist, supporting partner clinics in men’s health, weight management, and women’s health. The role combines remote prescribing responsibilities with on-site Responsible Pharmacist duties within a distance-selling pharmacy.

The post holder will be responsible for optimising patient outcomes through high-quality prescribing decisions aligned to CQC standards, in addition to ensuring compliance with regulatory standards set by the General Pharmaceutical Council and supporting the efficient operation of Lift Pharmacy.

Working across Leger Clinic and Lift Pharmacy, the role is integral to enhancing clinical capacity, maintaining governance standards, and enabling the continued growth of digitally enabled healthcare services.

Role and responsibilities

  • Independent Prescribing and Clinical Management

Deliver patient-centred care through independent prescribing across testosterone replacement therapy, GLP-1 weight management, and hormone replacement therapy pathways. Undertake clinical decision-making based on patient-submitted information, medical history, and diagnostic results, ensuring all prescribing is appropriate, evidence-based, and aligned to established protocols.

  • Repeat Prescribing and Treatment Optimisation

Manage ongoing patient cohorts by reviewing follow-up information, blood results, and treatment response data. Adjust prescribing where clinically appropriate, ensuring continuity of care and timely intervention where risks or concerns are identified.

  • Clinical Review and Risk Stratification

Maintain accurate, contemporaneous clinical records and contribute to audit, peer review, and governance processes. Identify prescribing risks, support mitigation strategies, and ensure adherence to internal SOPs, NICE guidance, and regulatory expectations.

  • Clinical Governance and Risk Management

Maintain accurate, contemporaneous clinical records and contribute to audit, peer review, and governance processes. Identify prescribing risks, support mitigation strategies, and ensure adherence to internal SOPs, NICE guidance, and regulatory expectations.

  • Responsible Pharmacist Duties (On-site)

Act as the Responsible Pharmacist within Lift Pharmacy, ensuring safe and compliant dispensing of prescriptions. Oversee the clinical checking process, supervise the dispensary team, and ensure all operations meet GPhC standards, including controlled drug governance and audit readiness.

  • Dispensing Oversight and Clinical Verification

Undertake or supervise clinical checks of prescriptions issued by partner clinics, ensuring appropriateness, accuracy, and completeness prior to supply. Maintain clear accountability for the safe supply of medicines within a distance-selling model.

  • Service Development and Operational Support

Contribute to the development and refinement of clinical pathways across TRT, weight management, and menopause services. Support initiatives aimed at improving efficiency, patient experience, and scalability of services.

  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration

Work closely with doctors, nurse prescribers, and operational teams to support integrated care delivery. Provide clinical advice to pharmacy and non-clinical colleagues where required and contribute to a collaborative, high-performing team environment.

  • Regulatory Compliance and Quality Assurance

Ensure all activities are compliant with relevant legislation, professional standards, and internal policies. Support inspection readiness, maintain documentation standards, and uphold a culture of continuous quality improvement.

Skills and Experience

We are looking for a confident and patient-focused Independent Prescriber who:

  • Is registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Holds an Independent Prescribing qualification
  • Enjoys autonomous clinical decision-making
  • Has a strong governance and patient safety mindset
  • Wants to work within innovative, high-growth healthcare services

Experience in TRT, weight management, or menopause care is beneficial but not essential. Support, training and clinical collaboration will be available from experienced specialist teams.

  • A genuinely modern hybrid pharmacist role
  • Exposure to some of the fastest growing therapy areas in UK healthcare
  • Flexible working with a mix of remote and on-site responsibilities

  • Involvement in building and shaping a newly launched pharmacy operation
