Job Overview
Quality Auditor
Reports to: Head of Quality
Location: Service based across Essex with some travel to head office and the training centre
Salary: £30,000
Purpose of the role:
Quality isn't about paperwork.
It's about whether the people we support are living safe, happy, fulfilling lives with support that is truly centred around them.
As a Quality Auditor, your role is to spend time in our services, getting to know people, observing support, listening, asking questions and understanding what life is really like for the people who call our services home.
You'll work alongside managers and staff to recognise great practice, identify where things could be even better, and support lasting improvements that make a real difference.
This isn't a box-ticking role. We are looking for someone who is naturally curious, passionate about quality, and committed to helping services become outstanding.
The Role:
Working closely with the Head of Quality, you will visit our homes to assess the quality of care and support being provided.
You'll look beyond policies and paperwork to understand whether people are receiving the care they deserve.
You'll complete quality audits, speak with the people we support, observe support in practice, review records, and work collaboratively with managers to develop meaningful improvement plans.
You'll also help us continually develop our Quality Assurance Framework so it remains effective, practical and aligned with the expectations of CQC and, more importantly, the needs of the people we support.
Key Responsibilities:
Carry out quality audits
- Complete planned and responsive audits across our services.
- Assess services against CQC regulations, legislation and organisational standards.
- Produce clear, balanced reports that recognise excellent practice as well as areas for improvement.
- Agree realistic, meaningful actions that improve people's lives, not just paperwork.
Put people first
- Spend time with the people we support and understand their experiences.
- Adapt your communication to meet different people's needs.
- Observe support with kindness, curiosity and respect.
- Make sure the voices of the people we support influence your findings.
- Recognise that quality is measured by people's outcomes, not simply completed records.
Work collaboratively
- Build positive relationships with Registered Managers and staff teams.
- Provide constructive challenge in a supportive and respectful way.
- Encourage openness, honesty and learning.
- Share ideas and examples of good practice.
- Support managers to understand audit findings and achieve meaningful improvements.
Follow the evidence
Look beyond whether something has been done.
Be able to evidence the full journey:
Incident → Decision → Action → Outcome
Understand whether actions have genuinely reduced risk and improved the quality of support for the person involved.
Keep learning
Maintain a strong working knowledge of:
- CQC regulations and Assessment Framework
- Fundamental Standards
- Adult social care legislation
- Mental Capacity Act
- Safeguarding
- Positive Behaviour Support
- Best practice for supporting people with learning disabilities and autism
Keep your knowledge current so your audits reflect the latest expectations and guidance.
Help us keep improving
Work alongside the Head of Quality to continually improve our Quality Assurance Framework.
Share ideas, challenge existing processes and contribute to the development of audit tools that genuinely improve quality across our organisation.
Knowledge & Experience:
Essential Experience
- Experience working within adult social care.
- Experience supporting people with learning disabilities and/or autism.
- Good knowledge of CQC regulations and adult social care legislation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
Desirable
- Experience of quality assurance or auditing.
- Experience supporting services through CQC inspections.
- Experience as a Registered Manager or Deputy Manager.
- Knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support.
Pay: £30,000.00 per year
Benefits:
- Casual dress
- Company events
- Free parking
- On-site parking
- Private medical insurance
- Referral programme
Work Location: In person
