Job Description

As Senior HSE Advisor, you will be the driving force behind health, safety, and environmental compliance across our client’s Hebburn HQ, regional depots, and off-site third-party locations. This is a hands-on, high-impact role for a Senior HSE Advisor who is ready to lead, influence, and make a tangible difference.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing, reviewing, and updating HSE policies and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance
  • Implementing HSE policies across all departments and sites, providing expert guidance and support
  • Line managing the HSE Advisor, including performance reviews, goal-setting, and absence management
  • Supporting COSHH compliance across operational departments
  • Conducting formal safety inspections, internal audits, and occupational hygiene monitoring
  • Leading investigations into accidents, near misses, and incidents to identify root causes and corrective actions
  • Ensuring all activities are appropriately risk assessed with agreed safe systems of work
  • Supporting HR in delivering health and safety inductions, manual handling, and DSE training
  • Leading health and safety committees, toolbox talks, safety alerts, and cross-functional working groups

Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Full UK driving licence
  • 5+ years’ experience in a similar Senior HSE Advisor or equivalent position
  • Recognised health and safety qualification such as NEBOSH
  • Recognised environmental qualification (NEBOSH Environmental or IEMA Certificate)
  • Membership of a professional body such as IOSH or IEMA
  • Proven background in manufacturing or construction environments
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to positively influence at all levels

Preferred:

  • Experience working to ISO 45001 or other internationally recognised standards
  • DSE assessor and/or manual handling trainer qualification (or willingness to complete training)
