Orthopaedic Consultant Assistant / Phlebotomist

Location: Birmingham, B5 5TH
Job Type: Part-time (weekends), max 16h., min 8h
Salary: Competitive, depending on experience

We are seeking a motivated and professional Orthopaedic Consultant Assistant to join our growing private clinic team. This is a varied and rewarding role supporting a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with clinical procedures, patient care, and administrative duties.

The ideal candidate will have experience in healthcare settings and preferably be qualified and experienced in phlebotomy, with an interest in assisting with PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) treatments and minor surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting the Orthopaedic Consultant during patient consultations and examinations
  • Preparing patients for PRP treatments and minor surgical procedures
  • Performing venepuncture and blood collection for PRP preparation
  • Assisting with minor surgery procedures in clinic
  • Maintaining accurate patient records and clinical documentation
  • Coordinating appointments, investigations, and follow-up care
  • Ensuring treatment rooms and equipment are prepared and maintained
  • Supporting compliance with infection control and clinical governance standards

Essential Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a healthcare or clinical environment
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • High level of professionalism and attention to detail

Preferred Skills & Availability:

  • Polish language skills are highly desirable, as a significant proportion of our patients are Polish-speaking.
  • Availability to work weekends is preferred.
  • Flexibility to support weekend clinics and procedures would be an advantage.
  • Self-employed contractor preferred (employed applications will also be considered).

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Certified Phlebotomist
  • Experience assisting with PRP treatments
  • Experience supporting minor surgical procedures
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and clinical documentation
  • Experience working in private healthcare
