Help Shape the Future of Cancer Care Through Exercise

Are you a qualified Personal Trainer looking for a career with real purpose?

GenesisCare is launching an exciting new Exercise Medicine Clinic in Oxford, and we're looking for a passionate Exercise Oncology Specialist to join us as we build this innovative service from the ground up. This is a full time, permanent opportunity.

This is a unique opportunity to move beyond the traditional gym environment and use your expertise to help people living with and beyond cancer improve their strength, confidence, wellbeing and quality of life through prescribed exercise.

Working alongside a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, you'll play a key role in delivering personalised exercise programmes that support patients throughout their cancer journey. If you're driven by making a genuine difference and want to be part of a pioneering healthcare service, we'd love to hear from you.

Please note, this is a 22.5 hour per week vacancy.

The Role
As an Exercise Oncology Specialist, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of our Exercise Medicine Service, working under the guidance of the Exercise Clinic Lead Physiotherapist.

You'll create and deliver tailored exercise programmes, support patients both in-person and virtually, monitor progress, and help ensure every patient receives a safe, engaging and personalised experience.

What You'll Do

  • Deliver personalised exercise programmes for people living with and beyond cancer
  • Conduct one-to-one and group exercise sessions in a safe, supportive environment
  • Support patients through their exercise journey, adapting programmes to suit their individual needs and treatment plans
  • Manage clinic schedules and maintain accurate patient records
  • Work closely with physiotherapists, wellbeing consultants and wider healthcare teams
  • Deliver virtual exercise sessions where appropriate
  • Contribute to service development and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Promote the benefits of exercise medicine as part of holistic cancer care

What You'll Have
Essential:

  • Level 3 Personal Trainer qualification
  • Minimum 3 years' experience as a Personal Trainer
  • Excellent communication and motivational skills
  • A passion for helping people achieve meaningful health outcomes
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently

Desirable:

  • Level 4 Cancer and Exercise qualification
  • Registration with CIMSPA or another relevant professional body
  • Experience working with individuals living with cancer
  • Experience supporting clients with long-term health conditions
  • GP Referral or Specialist Population qualifications

Why This Role is Different

This isn't just another Personal Trainer position.

You'll be joining a healthcare environment where exercise is recognised as a vital part of cancer treatment and recovery. Every day, you'll help patients rebuild strength, manage treatment side effects, improve wellbeing and regain confidence during one of the most challenging periods of their lives.

You'll also be part of an exciting new service from the very beginning, helping establish a clinic that will positively impact the lives of patients across Oxfordshire and beyond.

Why Choose GenesisCare?

  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Private medical insurance and dental cover
  • Company pension scheme
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Access to world-class cancer treatment for you and your immediate family if required
  • Wellbeing support including Headspace and digital health services
  • Career development and specialist training opportunities
  • Retail and lifestyle discounts
  • Free parking at most centres
