Full job description

Our first shop opened in 1981 in Penzance, selling durable clothing to artists and mariners. Today, we’re a modern, data-enabled omnichannel retailer with a growing international presence. As a Junior Support Technician Apprentice, responding to queries, logging and managing support tickets, and helping to resolve non-complex technical issues. You’ll gain hands-on experience working on a busy service desk, learning how to troubleshoot problems, manage requests, and support systems that keep the business running smoothly.

You’ll also support wider IT operations, from maintaining documentation and assisting with system checks to working with third-party providers to resolve issues.

Please note this is a full-time, two year temporary contract which is based in Cornwall. This role offers a hybrid working arrangement, with alternating weeks between office-based and remote working within the UK. Wednesdays are designated in-office days.

You’ll help us by

Respond to queries from colleagues and log them into our IT Service Management tool

Ensuring queries in the on our ticketing system are responded to in a timely fashion, and that the mailbox is well maintained and organised at all times.

Organising New Starter/Change/Leavers requests into our system, ensuring these are assigned correctly.

Assisting in our IT Lab, with building and decomissioning hardware and asset management

Assisting with routine checks on interfaces/backups/systems.

Assisting with tickets, varying from password resets to more complex issues such as investigating network problems.

Assisting with updating documentation when requested.

Communicating with 3rd parties to log issues.

Working with 3rd parties to ensure tickets are followed up and responded to within an appropriate timeframe.

The skills you’ll be sharing with the team

Three A levels or equivalent

3 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject

GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above)

Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship in a similar subject

Problem solving and multitasking skills.

General interest in IT

A constant learner, familiar with current technology.

Able to remain calm when dealing with pressure.

 The ability to work closely with internal teams and external suppliers, communicating by phone, e-mail and face-to-face in a professional manner.

Strong organisational and planning skills.

Excellent communication skills.

Motivated, driven and proactive.

Team worker.

Flexible/adaptable.

The ability to deliver tasks.

The Apprenticeship:
As one of our Apprentices, you will be on a 2-year fixed term contract starting in September 2026. Your working hours will be 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

With support from your line manager and the Training & Early Career Advisor, you will be working towards a Level 3 Junior Support Technician standard.

We are looking at recruiting on potential and your enthusiasm to succeed. Because of this, we will be running an Assessment Day to find out more about your skills for this role. The Assessment Day for this role is taking place on: Thursday 23rd July.
