Full job description

Role Purpose: To support & lead the new micro technician & lab and provide expertise to develop microbiological methods, implementation/verification of the cleaning and sanitisation processes and procedures which ensure that kdc/one / Barony Universal comply with all relevant global kdc/one, customer & regulatory requirement.

Key Accountabilities:

Analytical services

  • Analysis of products, componentry and environmental samples using microbiological, wet chemical & instrumental techniques to approved procedures and within requisite timescales.
  • Liaison with other Departmental members to determine work schedules and priorities. Maintain good working relationships with the site team.
  • Maintain knowledge of all applicable customer and regulatory microbiological requirements. Where required, develop new analytical methods, systems and procedures.
  • Identify, implement, perform and document microbiological validations.
  • Investigate and resolve microbiological quality incidents, complaints and OOS results. Including arranging/leading cross function team.
  • Audit processes and support resolution of any non conformities raised.
  • Be the focal point for external microbiological audits (customer, regulatory, accreditations etc).
  • Provide microbiological quality / technical / scientific advice (internal and external)
  • Ensure company policies and procedures are understood and adhered to.

Calibration of equipment

  • Calibration of all equipment (including when external agents are required) within the required timescales in accordance with approved calibration procedures
  • Standardisation of reagents
  • Development of calibration methods

Leadership, people and Training

  • Lead meeting of cross functional teams to improve site cleaning and microbiological related processes.
  • Ensure operational compliance with procedures manuals
  • Develop, support, train and motivate the QA/microbiological team.
  • Carry out annual performance development reviews.
  • Lead/participate in the training of personnel;
  • Lead/participate in the training on engineering micro standards;
  • Lead the micro lab team, allocate and maintain work load.

Control of Cleaning, sanitisation and contamination control

  • Verify cleaning, sanitisation and work practices in the manufacturing and packaging departments.
  • Verify the design and maintenance of equipment, storage and handling of raw materials as well as the cleanliness of the work environment with respect to micro contamination.
  • Verify good personnel work practices to reduce the risk of micro contamination.
  • Conduct regular audits of the manufacturing and production areas vs the standards at conception;
  • Verify and maintain a good work environment;

Continuous Improvement and Maintenance of systems

  • Continuously improve and develop site based cleaning and micro procedures.
  • Release or rejection of stock based on microbiological results.
  • Maintaining reagent & equipment stocks
  • External & internal proficiency testing
  • Define and adhere to site KPI’s.
  • Ensure appropriate risk assessments are completed for lab and site, using data to create improvement programmes.
  • Contribute to the Global Hygiene Forum for shared learnings & CI.I

Customer services

  • Preparation of Certificates of Analysis
  • Preparation of Customer samples
  • Sending Analytical results as required

Additional duties

  • Investigation & reply to customer complaints
  • Preparation of statistical data & KPI’s
  • Sample collection
  • Ensure safe working practices. Monitor compliance

Competencies

Necessary role related knowledge, skills and experience at selection

  • Experienced / qualified Micro lab practitioner.
  • Working knowledge of ISO cosmetics microbiological requirements e.g. ISO21149, ISO16212, ISO18415, ISO17416
  • Working knowledge of CLAS requirements
  • Working knowledge of customer microbiological requirements
  • Quality systems experience – ISO17025, GMP, ISO9001, BRC, HACCP
  • Good level of education particularly in science related subjects.
  • Good computer skills (word, access, excel, e-mail, internet, SWAS, Fourth shift, Pro builder, PLQA).
  • Good knowledge of the companies products, components and services
  • Good practical/analytical skills
  • Good personal organisational skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Numerate & logical
  • Methodical and accurate.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to maintain neat and accurate records.

Pay: £32,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
