Full job description

We are looking for a friendly, professional and organised Dental Receptionist to join our team and play an important role in providing an excellent experience for our patients. As the first point of contact for patients, you will be responsible for creating a warm and welcoming environment while ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the practice reception. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and organisational skills, a professional telephone manner and a genuine commitment to delivering high standards of patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcoming patients to the practice in a friendly and professional manner
  • Answering telephone calls and responding to patient enquiries
  • Booking, changing and confirming appointments
  • Managing the practice diary and ensuring appointments are scheduled efficiently
  • Checking patients in and out
  • Taking payments and processing transactions accurately
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records
  • Liaising with dentists, dental nurses and other members of the practice team
  • Handling patient enquiries professionally and confidentially
  • Managing emails and general administrative tasks
  • Following practice policies, procedures and confidentiality requirements
  • Supporting the wider team with the smooth day-to-day running of the practice

Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience in reception, administration, customer service, ideally within a dental practice.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a warm, friendly and professional manner.
  • Excellent telephone and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, colleagues and other professionals.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage a busy workload, prioritise tasks and remain calm under pressure.
  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy and a high standard of administrative work.
  • Confident IT skills, with experience using computer-based systems, email and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience using dental practice management software is desirable.
  • Previous experience working as a Dental Receptionist is desirable.
  • Knowledge of dental terminology, treatments and procedures is advantageous.
  • Experience working within an NHS and/or private dental practice is desirable.
  • Experience processing patient payments and handling financial enquiries.
  • Understanding of GDPR, patient confidentiality and professional standards within a healthcare environment.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • A strong commitment to patient confidentiality, professionalism and delivering a high standard of patient care.

Pay: From £13.00 per hour
