Are you a clinical research nurse, ready to take the initiative delivering high-quality studies? If so, take your next step with Research Link.

Overview

Due to a planned phase of growth, we are looking for up to two enthusiastic and self-motivated registered nurses with proven research experience. We're looking for individuals who can contribute to a diverse portfolio of NIHR and industry‑sponsored trials across primary and community care. With your own allocated studies to drive forward, you’ll also work flexibly to collaborate with Research Link team members as needed. Excellent communication skills are essential.

You will work in conjunction with our Lead Research Nurse, the Chief Research Operations Officer and the PI. Duties include undertaking screening, participant recruitment, study visits, and data collection. Liaising regularly with Sponsors, CRO’s and other NHS providers, you will contribute by ensuring your approach safeguards the well-being of the patients and is conducted within ICH Good Clinical Practice Guidelines for Research.

Some flexibility is required to meet protocol-specific visit windows and participant availability, including occasional early-morning visits.

Key Responsibilities

  • Screening, recruitment, informed consent, undertaking of study visits, and follow-up assessments of study patient
  • Safeguarding the integrity of the trial by ensuring compliance with ICH GCP guidelines.
  • Ability to support patients in making informed decisions about their participation in trials by offering clear advice, information, and advocacy.
  • Communicating effectively with the wider multi-disciplinary team
  • Attendance at on-site and remote meetings with the wider Research Link team, Sponsors, CROs, community and acute nurses, and clinical leads
  • Involvement with the running of several concurrent research studies
  • Treatment of patients with standard of care and investigational products, undertaking clinical assessments as required
  • Accurate collection, recording and analysis of data in accordance with requirements of the trial protocol.

Essential Requirements

  • Registered Nurse with current NMC registration
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • Specialist nursing post-graduate qualification or equivalent experience
  • International Council for Harmonisation (ICH) Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certified or a willingness to work towards this
  • Minimum of one year’s experience working as a Clinical Research Nurse.
  • A sound concept of study protocols, related regulatory requirements, and Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
  • Proven ability to accurately collect, record, and report research data
  • Understanding of current relevant clinical and professional issues
  • Articulate with the ability to relay complex trial information to stakeholders and patients in an appropriate manner.
  • Proven experience of successfully working autonomously and managing own caseloads
  • Experience of team collaboration
  • Ability to apply extensive clinical knowledge in a variety of situations
  • To maintain a consistently high standard of professional conduct in all interactions with patients and stakeholders

Desirable Criteria

  • Previous experience of clinical research in wound care
  • Experience with IT systems including SystmOne and online eCRF tools

General Requirements

  • Willingness and ability to travel independently throughout the community to undertake research visits in patients' homes and other community settings along with access to a vehicle for work purposes is a requirement of this role.
  • This position is offered on a fixed-term self-employed basis, with the potential to move to employed basis in the future
