Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optical Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the daily operations of our optical practice, ensuring that patients receive exceptional service and care. This position requires a blend of technical skills and customer service abilities, making it an excellent opportunity for those interested in the optical field.
Duties
- Assist optometrists in conducting eye examinations and tests, ensuring all equipment is prepared and maintained.
- Provide guidance to patients regarding eyewear options, including frames and lenses.
- Manage patient records with accuracy, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with regulations.
- Perform laboratory tasks such as lens edging, fitting, and adjustments as needed.
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment, adhering to health and safety standards.
- Educate patients on proper eyewear care and usage.
- Handle administrative tasks including scheduling appointments and managing inventory.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in an optical or healthcare setting is preferred but not essential.
- Knowledge of laboratory processes related to optics is advantageous.
- A basic understanding of anatomy related to the eye will be beneficial.
- Excellent communication skills with a strong focus on customer service.
- Ability to work effectively within a team as well as independently.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills are essential.
