Shore Medical is a GP Super Partnership with 6 practices across Poole and Bournemouth. We aspire to offer exceptional care to our 58,000 patients and are innovative in our approach to developing new teams and pathways to ever improve how general practice is delivered. We have a friendly and supportive team of more than 200 staff, with over 40 GP’s, Pharmacists, Paramedics, Nurses, Mental Health specialists and our range of administrative staff. The Opportunity

Shore Medical is seeking a Patient Services Clerk (Receptionist) to join our friendly team, providing excellent customer service while projecting a professional image for the Surgery. This role is roaming and can be based at any one of our six practices; your own transport is required.

This role is patient facing, managing enquiries on the front desk while providing accurate and efficient medical administration support to our Patients, Partners, GPs, Registrars and Practice Nurses.

Job Type: Permanent Part Time 25 hours per week

Working Pattern: 8.00am-6.30pm Monday to Friday

Location: All Shore sites- this role is a roaming position with no set base

Hourly Rate: £12.71 per hour

Key Responsibilities

  • Covering all reception positions as necessary
  • Ensure reception and waiting areas are kept neat and tidy – notice boards and leaflet dispensers tidy and free from clutter
  • To handle all administrative queries and tasks from clinicians and act as liaison with the patients as necessary
  • Assisting patients with booking nursing appointments as required
  • Carrying out a review of any patient records that are accessed to identify and update and outstanding QOF targets
  • Franking outgoing post and taking to Post Office, along with ‘Signed For’ parcels.
  • Responsible for maintaining patient data security in accordance with practice protocols at all times
  • Recording of patient blood pressure recording
  • Provide excellent customer service

Experience

  • Proven receptionist experience in a similar role or GP/NHS department environment is desirable
  • To have tact and diplomacy in direct and indirect emotional circumstances
  • To possess an excellent calming and professional telephone manner
  • Knowledge of the NHS an advantage
  • Fully proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Educated to a high standard at GCSE level in Maths, English or equivalent
