Remote Medical Secretary & Telephonist (UK Based)

Acorn Private Clinic – Penarth, South Wales (Remote after training)

£13.50 per hour | 25 hours per week | Monday-Friday | 9:00 am-5:00 pm

Acorn Private Clinic is seeking an experienced Medical Secretary & Telephonist to join our growing private healthcare team. This is a UK-based remote role, with an initial 4-week training period on-site at our Penarth clinic before transitioning to home-based remote working.

We are looking for someone with previous experience working in the UK medical sector, who is confident handling patient enquiries, managing appointments, and supporting the smooth day-to-day running of a busy private clinic.

Key responsibilities

  • Answer incoming calls from patients in a professional and empathetic manner
  • Book, amend, and cancel appointments across multiple clinicians and services
  • Coordinate patient bookings and clinic schedules
  • Respond to patient enquiries and provide accurate information
  • Manage referrals, correspondence, and administrative tasks
  • Liaise with clinicians and other team members to ensure efficient patient care
  • Maintain accurate patient records and uphold confidentiality at all times

Essential requirements

  • Previous experience in a UK medical, GP, hospital, or private healthcare setting (mandatory)
  • Excellent telephone manner and communication skills
  • Strong organisational and administrative abilities
  • Experience using medical practice management systems is desirable
  • Confident using Microsoft Office and standard computer systems
  • Ability to work independently from home after training
  • Reliable internet connection and a suitable home working environment

Location
