The FurtherMore Project was set up against the backdrop of the housing crisis and to directly address the challenges faced by single homeless individuals and their limited access to social housing and adequate support services.
Our team of highly trained managers and staff draw upon years of experience to fulfil our core objective of providing a bridge from homelessness to independence and the creation of real and meaningful outcomes for those who enter our service.

Job description
Join a growing supported accommodation provider set up against the backdrop of the housing crisis and with an aim of providing a best in class service for its clients who are predominantly single homeless adults.
We are looking for an individual who is passionate about making a difference, has pride in their work and who would relish the chance to grow with our organisation.
Our organisation provides supported accommodation to homeless vulnerable adults with identified low to medium level support needs ranging from mental health needs, medical conditions, financial difficulties, general emotional support amongst others.
The main role of a support worker will be:
- Carry out weekly Key Work Sessions with clients, predominantly in person at houses (occasionally by phone).
- Carry out an initial care plan when a client is first inducted into the service to identify roadblocks to living independently and plan for support going forward.
- Ensure support offered to clients is high quality, well documented and detailed etc.
- KWS will entail subsequently working on these roadblocks with clients with a view of moving them to independent living in the PRS.
- Review the Care Plans monthly.
- Carry out one on one workshops for specific needs where required (e.g. CV workshops, budgeting workshop, tenancy sustainment training, move-on workshops etc.)
- Carry out house workshops for specific needs where required (e.g. house upkeep & refuse/recycling workshops)
- Document all support on company software, including ad hoc communication logs, and ensure all review dates are met and that support documentation is detailed and of a high quality.
- Refer clients to specialist external organisations to assist with their support needs.
- Ensure client database well maintained and details are accurate.
- Follow up on client admin, including benefits, organisations they have been referred to for support needs, GP’s etc.
- Chasing clients where needed on admin items where needed (licenses, bank statements etc.)
- Weekly update with line manager on client progress
- Liaise with maintenance department on any maintenance issues raised by clients
- Providing any resolutions to initial client on client disputes
- Escalating warnings and incidents to line manager and documenting on system where needed.
- Work with client to assist them into the PRS where possible.
- Create budgeting plans for all clients and - especially after employment - assist with the move on process and to get clients in a position where they will be able to demonstrate an ability to pay rent to PRS landlords.
· Ensure clients fully understand the circumstances surrounding employment, benefits and move on with a clear plan of action drafted for them to follow.
- Ensure all move-on documentation including AST’s, bank statements, pay slips, UC statements etc. obtained for move-on’s.
- Liaise with partnering organisations for DHP payments for move-on’s and external organisations to assist with the process too.
Additional tasks outside of the focused support may include house and room inspections and general welfare checks as well as other roles which complement the core support of the clients.
Skills and experience required:
- Must have previous experience as a support worker at a low to medium supported service
- Has knowledge or experience in the social care sector
- Is passionate about helping others
- Has confident and effective communication skills
- Is comfortable lone working & holding one-to-one key work sessions
- Is capable of using basic IT systems and is willing to learn new support software
- Is willing to travel to different locations in London to provide support
- Is organised and able to maintain a detailed a coherent trail of reporting, keeping records and updating information on the relevant platforms
- Understands the importance of equality and diversity as well as confidentiality
- Own transport car/cycle
- Has a UK driving licence and is willing to drive to client meetings, (mileage will be paid).
Employment is subject to a satisfactory Enhanced DBS check and successfully completing a 2-week induction.
