Location: London (Hybrid Working)
Department: Corporate Affairs
Reporting to: National Media Adviser
Contract Type: Permanent, Full-time (Mon–Fri, 9am –5pm, with additional hours worked as required for communications activities)

Role Summary

The Communications Adviser supports the delivery of OEUK's communications and media activity, helping to promote the organisation, its members and the wider offshore energy industry. Working across media relations, digital communications, content creation and stakeholder engagement, the role contributes to reputation management, communications campaigns and strategic communications activity.

This is an excellent opportunity for a communications professional looking to develop their experience within a fast-paced corporate affairs environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Support the day-to-day operation of OEUK's press office, including media monitoring and responding to enquiries.
  • Create engaging content for a range of channels, including press releases, articles, newsletters, speeches, presentations and social media.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with journalists, members and key stakeholders.
  • Support communications campaigns, events and media opportunities that promote OEUK and the offshore energy sector.
  • Manage and update content across digital platforms, including the OEUK website.
  • Prepare briefings, research and communications materials to support spokespeople and colleagues.
  • Contribute to reputation management activity, including support during sensitive or high-profile communications issues.
  • Monitor industry, political and media developments and provide communications insights and recommendations.

Person specification

We're looking for a communications professional with strong writing skills, excellent attention to detail and an interest in current affairs, business, energy or public policy.

You will bring:

  • A degree, professional qualification or equivalent relevant experience in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or a related discipline.
  • Experience gained through communications, media, public relations, or related roles, placements, internships or graduate programmes.
  • Strong content creation, editing and proofreading skills.
  • An understanding of media relations, public relations and digital communications.
  • The ability to develop effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • The ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications and digital communications platforms.
  • Experience using website content management systems, such as WordPress, would be beneficial.

You can interpret complex information and communicate it clearly and effectively for different audiences. Working Pattern

This is a full-time role working 9am –5pm, Monday to Friday in a hybrid office environment with additional hours worked as required for communications activities.
