The Royal Buckinghamshire Hospital, Est 1834, part of the Akessa Health Care Group, is looking for an experienced dynamic and organised ODP or scrub nurse, to join our team. This role is due to a start of surgical services at this longstanding hospital.
This is an exciting time to join a hugely reputable organisation and provide the highest standards of care, with significant investment having been made into the hospital with laminar flow operating rooms.

About us:
Akessa Healthcare Group owns and operates several boutique independent hospitals including The New Foscote Hospital, Royal Buckinghamshire Hospital and 107 Harley Street.
The Royal Buckinghamshire Hospital was established in Aylesbury in 1832 and has provided services and treatments to thousands of people from across the region. The ownership of the hospital was transferred to our new management team in January 2023. By joining our existing portfolio, the hospital is now run professionally and provides clinical care to private, insured and NHS patients, with a strong ethos on caring for our staff. Since 2023 the hospital has undergone a multimillion pound refurbishment project. The hospital has 3 ultra clean laminar flow operating theatres and an additional minor operating theatre room.
The New Foscote Hospital has been successfully established in Banbury for over 40 years and has provided services and treatments to thousands of people from across the region. We have over 75 consultants, all of whom are leaders in their specialist fields and choose to hold their private practice here, working alongside our friendly, highly qualified and experienced nursing staff and support teams
107 Harley Street, is an outpatient, diagnostic and day-case facility. The Group has had a presence in the Harley Street area since 2010. The treatments offered at this facility includes oral and maxillofacial surgery, dermatology, orthodontics and specialist dentistry, plastic and cosmetic surgery, general surgery and rheumatology.
The clinical outcomes of the hospital group are of the highest standards and the latest CQC report rated our hospital standards as ‘good’ across all parameters. Our organisation has strong IT, operational, clinical governance and accountancy support. Core Responsibilities:
- To assist the Theatre Manager and Deputy Theatre Manager in the delivery, standards and management of patient care within the theatre.
- Provide skilled assistance to the surgeons
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, providing high quality pre and post-operative patient-centred care and customer service.
- Provide guidance, support and clinical scrub expertise and leadership to the Theatre team, whilst working closely with the senior team to ensure effective use of Theatre resources.
- Demonstrate clinical expertise in specialist area and act as a resource to proactively enhance the service to our clients.
- Ensure that the theatre is prepared for use on a daily basis in line with quality standards.
- Comply with internal procedures to ensure equipment is maintained/serviced in line with manufacturer’s instructions, reporting any defects and notifying the Theatre Manager and Deputy Theatre Manager.
- Ensure that all required documentation (legal, quality or other) is accurately maintained.
- In accordance with policies and procedures, ensure that medicines administration and management is carried out appropriately.
- Coordinate and maintain adequate stock levels of drugs, stores and implants liaising with the Theatre Manager and / Procurement.
- Maintain effective communication across the Hospital, including with patients, team members and Consultants.
- Who we are looking for:
- Registered with the NMC or HCPC essential.
- Strong clinical background as a Senior Scrub Practitioner in all types of surgery including orthopaedics.
- Surgical First Assistant trained/qualified desirable
- Ability to demonstrate high standards of verbal and written communication.
- Strong time management and organisational skills.
- Ability to work flexibly, take accountability and respond to urgent matters in a calm, well-measured and informed manner.
- Ability to present information accurately, clearly and concisely.
