Café Supervisor / Senior Barista

The Royal Bell – Bromley

The Royal Bell is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Café Supervisor / Senior Barista to take ownership of our café operation.

This is a hands-on role for someone who is genuinely passionate about coffee and takes pride in every drink they serve. You must have excellent coffee-making skills, including milk texturing, espresso calibration and consistently high-quality latte art.

Alongside leading the café during service, you will help create a warm and welcoming environment, maintain high standards and support the preparation and presentation of a simple café food menu.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve consistently excellent coffee and other café drinks
  • Produce high-quality latte art to a professional standard
  • Dial in and calibrate the coffee machine and grinder
  • Lead the café team during day-to-day service
  • Train and coach team members in coffee preparation and service standards
  • Deliver friendly, attentive and efficient customer service
  • Carry out basic food preparation, including sandwiches, pastries and light café dishes
  • Ensure food and drinks are presented to a consistently high standard
  • Maintain excellent cleanliness, organisation and food-safety standards
  • Manage opening and closing procedures
  • Monitor stock levels, place orders and minimise waste
  • Support rotas, shift planning and daily café administration
  • Help develop the café offer and identify opportunities to increase sales

What we’re looking for

  • Strong previous experience as a senior barista, head barista or café supervisor
  • Impeccable coffee-making skills and confident latte art
  • A thorough understanding of espresso extraction, milk preparation and machine calibration
  • Experience supervising or supporting a café team
  • Experience with basic food preparation and food hygiene
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • A warm, confident and personable approach to customer service
  • The ability to remain calm and organised during busy periods
  • A hands-on attitude and willingness to lead by example
  • Flexibility to work weekends and bank holidays when required

A food hygiene qualification would be beneficial, although training can be provided.
