ABOUT FEDERAL

Federal is all about great food, great coffee and genuinely brilliant service. We’re getting ready to open our brand-new café in York, and we’re looking for experienced Baristas to join us Mid November and help us bring Federal to a new city.

This is a brilliant opportunity to be part of a new opening from the very beginning - helping us build the team, set the standards and create the kind of customer experience that keeps people coming back.

THE ROLE

Federal Cafe has an impecable reputation for great coffee. Its a rep thats well earned. As a Barista you will continue to lead and develop this great tradition through excellent knowledge, passion and skill.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage the Coffee Bar, calibrate the machine and grinders as per Federal/Ozone specifications at start of every day and continually as required

Maintain cleanliness of the bar, the equipment and related processes

Produce consistently great coffee every single time

Conduct periodic quality control

Manage opening/closing checklist for the coffee bar daily

Maintain stock quantities for coffee and coffee related supplies (milk/mylk/matcha/cocoa etc)

Help train new baristas to the high standards Federal expects

Lead by example - Approach every coffee with a desire for it to be 100% perfect every time with no excuses

CUSTOMERS

Must take interest in customers, their preferences and especially our regulars

Explain flavour profiles and guest coffee choices when on offer

Be pro-active in showcasing what we offer and the provenance of our coffee

SKILLS

1-2 yrs experience in speciality coffee

Excellent communication skills

Ability to delegate and work with other team members

Must thrive working in fast paced environment

Must be continually challenging themselves and acquiring new skills and knowledge to maintain competitive advantage
