Hours: Monday–Friday
- 7:30am–9:00am (Breakfast Club)
- 2:30pm–6:00pm (After School Club)
- additional non-contact time
Contract: Term time only
Location: Bristol BS7 (across our sites as required)

About the Role
We are looking for a confident and experienced Play Manager to lead the day-to-day running of one of our childcare settings.
You will be responsible for delivering a safe, inclusive, and high-quality play environment, leading your team effectively, and ensuring high standards of safeguarding and practice are maintained at all times.
This is a hands-on leadership role, requiring strong organisation, clear communication, and the ability to manage a busy and dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
Site Leadership
- Take overall responsibility for the safe and effective running of the setting
- Lead and direct staff during sessions
- Ensure staffing ratios, deployment, and health & safety requirements are met
- Delegate responsibilities to Deputy Play Managers and maintain accountability
Safeguarding & Child Welfare
- Act promptly on safeguarding concerns and follow procedures
- Ensure active supervision of children at all times
- Support behaviour management and inclusion of all children
Staff Management
- Lead, support, and manage the staff team
- Complete supervisions, appraisals, and probation reviews
- Address performance concerns and support improvement
- Promote a positive and professional team culture
Operational Oversight
- Maintain oversight of all aspects of the session
- Ensure registers, health & safety checks, and records are completed accurately
- Intervene where necessary to maintain standards
Quality of Provision
- Ensure a high-quality, engaging play environment
- Support staff to deliver child-led play opportunities
- Monitor and improve the quality of provision
Parent & Stakeholder Engagement
- Build positive relationships with families
- Manage and respond to parent queries and concerns
- Work collaboratively with schools and partners
About You
- Experience leading or managing a childcare or playwork setting
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection
- Confident leading a team and managing staff performance
- Able to make decisions quickly and manage competing priorities
- Strong communication skills with staff, parents, and stakeholders
Relevant childcare/playwork qualification (Level 2 or 3) is desirable, or willingness to work towards one.
