Full job description

Arugam Bay is a family-run, independent restaurant in the heart of Chelmsford, specialising in authentic Sri Lankan, Pan-Asian, and seafood cuisine. We pride ourselves on serving freshly prepared dishes inspired by the vibrant flavours of Sri Lanka and Asia in a warm and welcoming environment.

We are looking for a passionate, innovative, and hardworking Chef to join our growing kitchen team.

About the Role

The successful candidate will play a key role in preparing high-quality dishes while maintaining excellent food hygiene and kitchen standards. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a unique dining experience and help develop new menu ideas.

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience working in a professional commercial kitchen.
  • Experience with wok cooking is essential.
  • Knowledge of Pan-Asian and/or, Asian or Sri Lankan cuisine is highly desirable.
  • Passion for producing fresh, high-quality food.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent understanding of food hygiene and health & safety regulations.
  • A positive attitude and the ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Reliability, flexibility, and a strong work ethic.
