Job Description

About the Role

We're looking for a proactive Data Centre and Connectivity Technician to help support and maintain the Group's IT and network infrastructure. In this hybrid technical and administrative role, you'll help ensure the reliability, performance, and security of critical systems, including the Cisco network estate, Check Point firewall estate, SD-WAN / connectivity solutions, NetApp storage, backup platforms, and telephony systems.

You'll provide escalated service desk support, helping investigate and resolve incidents within agreed SLAs and referring more complex issues to the specialist team. Alongside day-to-day operational support, you'll contribute to system monitoring, maintenance, upgrades, and new implementations, helping to keep our technology environment robust and secure.

You'll also support the ongoing maintenance of the Group's Disaster Recovery and Business Recovery plans, including participating in testing and helping keep configurations aligned with evolving business needs. This is a varied role with a real mix of technical and administrative work, offering the opportunity to get involved in infrastructure projects, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing third-line support for incidents, requests, and problem resolution
  • Monitoring system performance, availability, and security
  • Supporting infrastructure maintenance, upgrades, and implementations
  • Assisting in the development and testing of Disaster Recovery plans
  • Contributing to Business Recovery and IT security best practices
  • Supporting telephony systems and wider connectivity services
  • Collaborating with internal teams, external suppliers, and customers
  • Participating in out-of-hours support when required
  • Producing documentation, procedures, and management information
  • Supporting ad-hoc projects within the Infrastructure Services team

About You

You're a detail-oriented and adaptable individual with an interest in data centre operations and connectivity solutions, and a genuine desire to learn. You may not have deep experience across these systems yet, and that's fine; what matters is the motivation to develop, build your skills, and grow into the specialisation. A capable problem solver, you work effectively within established procedures and policy frameworks, and you're comfortable operating in a regulated environment.

You bring clear communication skills, able to present both technical and administrative information to a range of audiences in a way that suits the reader. You're well organised, comfortable managing several tasks at once, and you stay resilient when priorities shift.

You will also bring:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to produce well-structured and balanced documentation
  • Excellent attention to detail and risk awareness
  • Resilience and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
  • A proactive, self-motivated approach to continuous improvement

Experience we’re looking for:

  • Experience in IT services, infrastructure, or data centre environments
  • Working knowledge of networking and server-based technologies
  • Experience within regulated environments, ideally financial services
  • Understanding of risk management and governance frameworks
  • Experience managing or working alongside third-party suppliers
  • Collaboration across multiple support functions and stakeholders
  • Familiarity with enterprise IT environments

If you’re looking for a hands-on role where you can make a real impact on critical infrastructure and connectivity services, while continuing to grow your technical expertise, we’d love to hear from you.
