What the role is really like

You’ll deliver efficient, customer-focused and cost-effective painting, decorating and related works across Plus Dane properties in Merseyside and Cheshire.

Working independently and with colleagues, you’ll complete responsive repairs, void works and planned maintenance, including painting and decorating as part of planned kitchen installs, while keeping appointments and minimising disruption for customers.

You’ll follow job instructions, manage materials and van stock responsibly, complete pre-inspections and maintain accurate digital records of completed work.

You’ll travel between properties in a company vehicle, keeping your tools, equipment and vehicle in good order.

A respectful, organised and safety-conscious approach matters: you’ll protect customers’ homes and possessions, communicate clearly and take ownership of delivering quality work.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll:

  • Complete painting, decorating, repairs, planned works and related trade tasks to a high standard;
  • Follow job instructions, manage materials responsibly and keep accurate digital records;
  • Risk assess work and comply with health and safety regulations, codes of practice and company procedures;
  • Maintain tools, equipment, van stock and the company vehicle in good order;
  • Keep appointments, carry out pre-inspections and report additional defects or required works; and
  • Build professional, respectful relationships with customers, protect their homes and possessions, and reduce and segregate waste in line with company requirements.

Could this role be for you?

This role could suit an experienced painter and decorator working in social housing, property maintenance, construction, facilities management or another customer-facing repairs environment.

You’ll be organised, practical and solutions-focused, comfortable working independently and collaboratively under pressure, and confident managing customer expectations professionally.

What you really need

You’ll need:

  • A City & Guilds, NVQ or equivalent qualification in painting and decorating or a related trade;
  • Experience of responsive and void maintenance, together with planned building maintenance;
  • Sound knowledge of health and safety regulations, risk assessments and safe working practices;
  • Good organisation, problem-solving, communication and basic digital skills, with the judgement to decide whether repair or replacement is needed; and
  • A full UK driving licence and the ability to travel between Plus Dane properties.

You’ll be expected to follow Plus Dane’s safeguarding, health and safety, and pre-employment checking requirements.

Before you apply

This is a practical, mobile role in customers’ homes. You’ll need to work safely, keep accurate records, manage your workload and materials, and deliver high-quality work with minimal disruption.

If that sounds like the kind of working environment you’d enjoy, we’d love to hear from you.
