Support Tutors & Support Staff – Evening Tuition Sessions
3Rs Tuition is expanding and we are currently recruiting enthusiastic, reliable and professional Support Staff and Tutors to join our team across Warrington and Widnes.
We currently have shifts available across all of our tuition centres and are particularly keen to hear from candidates who are interested in becoming tutors.
Previous tutoring experience is not essential for the right candidate. If you have strong subject knowledge, communicate well with children and young people and have the right attitude, we can provide full training and support.
We are ideally looking for candidates who can commit to working with us from now until at least September 2027. We are also very interested in applicants looking for a longer term position.
Our Locations
We currently have opportunities available across all of our centres:
Appleton
- Monday: 3:40pm–5:40pm
Culcheth
- Monday: 3:30pm–6:30pm
- Thursday: 3:30pm–6:30pm
Great Sankey
- Monday: 5:00pm–7:00pm
- Tuesday: 4:00pm–7:00pm
Latchford
- Wednesday: 4:00pm–7:00pm
Lymm
- Wednesday: 4:10pm–7:10pm
- Thursday: 4:10pm–7:10pm
Moore
- Tuesday: 4:00pm–6:00pm
Padgate
- Tuesday: 5:00pm–7:00pm
Widnes
- Wednesday: 4:00pm–7:00pm
- Thursday: 4:00pm–7:00pm
- Friday: 4:00pm–6:00pm
You do not need to be available to work at every location.
We are happy to consider applicants who can regularly work at one centre as well as those who are able to work across several locations.
Candidates who can work at multiple centres may have access to more hours, but this is not essential.
The number of hours available will depend on your availability, the locations you can travel to and whether you are joining us as Support Staff, a Tutor or in a combined role. Most of our tutors work for 9-12 hours per week.
Tutor Opportunities
We are particularly keen to recruit new tutors to join our team.
You do not necessarily need previous professional tutoring or teaching experience. Strong academic ability, good communication skills, reliability and the ability to build positive relationships with children and young people are more important.
Full training is available for suitable candidates.
Our tutors work with students in small groups, providing tuition according to each student's individual ability, needs and personalised tuition plan.
Depending on your qualifications, experience and subject knowledge, opportunities may be available to tutor:
- Primary Maths and English
- KS3 Maths, English and Science
- GCSE Maths
- GCSE English Language and Literature
- GCSE Biology, Chemistry and Physics
- GCSE Combined Science
- 11+ entrance examination preparation
- A Level subjects, where appropriate
We are particularly interested in candidates with strong Maths, English and Science knowledge.
Candidates can join us specifically as tutors or combine tutoring with Support Staff hours.
If you do not have previous tutoring experience, you may initially complete Support Staff and training hours before progressing into tutoring once you are ready.
Support Staff Opportunities
Our Support Staff play an important role in helping our tuition centres and sessions run smoothly.
The role is varied and involves supporting tutors, students and parents throughout the evening.
Responsibilities may include:
- Meeting and greeting students and parents
- Helping students settle into their sessions
- Supporting tutors during tuition sessions
- Ensuring tutors have the resources and materials they need
- Preparing resources for sessions
- Assisting with the assessment of new students
- Helping to maintain an organised, welcoming and professional learning environment
- Supporting students where appropriate
- Following safeguarding policies and procedures at all times
- Working closely with tutors and other members of the 3Rs Tuition team
- Helping us provide a positive experience for students and parents
No previous experience is required for the Support Staff role as full training is provided.
For candidates interested in progressing into tutoring, the Support Staff role can also provide an excellent opportunity to become familiar with our centres, students, resources and tuition methods before beginning to tutor.
Hours and Working Pattern
Our tuition sessions primarily take place on weekday afternoons and evenings.
We currently have shifts available across all of our centres.
The exact hours offered will depend on the centre, student numbers, your availability and whether you are working as Support Staff, a Tutor or both.
Additional hours may become available as student numbers increase or when additional cover is required.
We operate throughout the school holidays, including the long summer break. This is not a term time only position.
Applicants should therefore be available to continue working during school and university holidays where required.
We close for approximately two weeks over the Christmas and New Year period.
PaySupport Staff
The Support Staff rate is:
£12.71 per hour
This rate also applies during the initial Support Staff training period.
Tutors
From September 2026, our tutor pay starts at:
£16 per hour
Tutor rates can increase as you gain experience and demonstrate your ability to deliver effective tuition and manage sessions confidently.
Our tutor pay scale from September 2026 is:
- Starting tutor rate: £16 per hour
- Higher rates available as you develop
- Maximum tutor rate: £21 per hour
The rate paid will depend on factors including experience, performance, responsibilities and session size.
We are keen to develop new tutors, so candidates who initially join us as Support Staff can undertake tutor training if they have the appropriate academic background and would like to progress.
Training duration varies depending on the individual. Progression into tutoring is based on readiness and ability rather than simply completing a set number of training hours.
Essential Academic Requirements
All applicants must have:
- A minimum of Grade B or Grade 6 at GCSE in Maths
- A minimum of Grade B or Grade 6 at GCSE in English
- A minimum of Grade B or Grade 6 at GCSE in Science
- Completed A Levels or an equivalent Level 3 qualification
Applicants must include their GCSE grades, particularly Maths, English and Science, with their application.
Applications that do not meet the minimum academic requirements, or where the required grades are not provided, may not be progressed.
Candidates applying to tutor should also have strong academic knowledge in the subjects they wish to teach.
Higher qualifications in relevant subjects are particularly welcomed.
Other Essential Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be at least 18 years old due to Ofsted requirements
- Be legally entitled to work in the UK
- Be willing to complete all required safeguarding checks and training
- Be reliable and punctual
- Be professional when dealing with students, parents and colleagues
- Understand the importance of confidentiality
- Be comfortable working with children and young people
- Be able to work effectively as part of a team
Who Might This Role Suit?
These positions could be particularly suitable for:
- University students
- Gap year students
- Recent graduates
- Trainee teachers
- Individuals considering a career in teaching or education
- Qualified teachers looking for additional evening hours
- Experienced tutors
- Teaching assistants
- Professionals with strong Maths, English or Science knowledge who are interested in tutoring
As we are looking for candidates who can remain with us until at least September 2027, this could be particularly suitable for university students who will remain in the area throughout the 2026/27 academic year.
Previous tutoring experience is welcomed but is not essential for all positions.
We are more interested in finding people who are academically strong, dependable, professional and enthusiastic about helping children and young people make progress.
What We Are Looking For
Successful candidates should demonstrate:
- Reliability and excellent punctuality
- Professionalism
- Strong communication skills
- Confidence when speaking with students and parents
- Good subject knowledge if applying to tutor
- Patience and the ability to explain concepts clearly
- Confidentiality and discretion
- A strong understanding of the importance of safeguarding
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team
- A positive and supportive approach towards children and young people
- A willingness to learn and develop
- Flexibility where possible
Candidates interested in tutoring should ideally be familiar with the current National Curriculum and examination system in England.
We are particularly interested in applicants who can work at more than one centre, as this can provide opportunities for additional hours. However, this is not essential and we are equally happy to consider applicants who can commit reliably to specific centres.
Safeguarding and Compliance
Safeguarding is central to everything we do at 3Rs Tuition.
All successful applicants will be required to complete our safer recruitment and safeguarding procedures before commencing unsupervised work with students.
This includes:
- A fully enhanced DBS check, including the relevant barred list check
- Two satisfactory references
- Verification of identity documents
- Verification of address
- Safeguarding training
Safeguarding training is CPD accredited and will be provided as part of the onboarding process.
All Tutors and Support Staff also receive access to up to 80 additional CPD accredited training courses, providing opportunities to continue developing their knowledge and professional skills while working with us.
Training and Progression
We are keen to develop people who would like to build their experience in education and tutoring.
You may join us as Support Staff and subsequently train as a Tutor, or you may be suitable to begin tutor training from the outset.
As you develop within the role, opportunities may include:
- Progression from Support Staff to Tutor
- Additional tutoring sessions
- Working across multiple centres
- Teaching additional subjects or levels
- Increased hourly rates
- Additional responsibilities within tuition sessions
For someone considering a future career in teaching, education or working with children and young people, the role can provide valuable practical experience alongside university, a gap year or other employment.
Why Join 3Rs Tuition?
This is an opportunity to join an established tuition organisation while gaining practical experience working with children and young people.
We provide full training, ongoing support and access to a wide range of CPD accredited courses.
With shifts currently available across all of our centres, we can discuss your availability and identify the locations and sessions that are most suitable for you.
Whether you are an experienced tutor, looking to begin tutoring for the first time, or would prefer to start in a Support Staff role and progress, we would be very pleased to hear from you.
Please ensure that your application includes your GCSE grades in Maths, English and Science, together with your A Level or equivalent qualifications.
