Insurance Supervision
The PRA's Insurance Supervision Directorate is the largest Directorate in the PRA. We supervise over 500 UK insurance firms and branches of international insurers across life insurance, general insurance and specialist supervision. Insurance plays a vital role in supporting households, businesses and the wider economy, providing financial security and resilience when it is needed most.
The sector is grappling with some of the biggest challenges facing society, from climate change and cyber risk to changing demographics, long term investment for growth, and technological innovation. As insurers adapt their business models to meet these challenges, our work continues to evolve too, making Insurance Supervision a fascinating place to work at the intersection of risk, policy, supervision and strategy.

Role Responsibilities
A core part of the role will be the provision of high-quality administrative and business support to the Director of Insurance Supervision, to the Senior Technical Advisor and to the Private Secretary while also being part of the wider office team in supporting the wider ED & Director Office team assisting with in delivering events and key Directorate activities.
We're looking for someone who is organised, approachable and proactive, with excellent communication and administrative skills. You'll enjoy managing competing priorities, working at pace and providing a high-quality service, while building strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
The role offers a unique perspective on the breadth of work taking place across Insurance Supervision. You'll work closely with senior leaders and colleagues across the Bank, while also engaging with external stakeholders including regulated firms, industry bodies, other regulators and partner organisations.
You will be part of a strong and supportive PA community, with opportunities to learn, grow and build relationships across the Directorate. The breadth of the role, combined with the exposure you'll gain to senior leaders and external stakeholders, makes it an excellent platform for future career development.
Role Requirements
Minimum criteria
- Experience using the common Microsoft suite of IT programmes such as Outlook, Excel, Word, Loop, CoPilot etc
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong organisational, administrative and time management skills and attention to detail.
- Proven ability to prioritise effectively and deliver under pressure.
Essential criteria
- Knowledge of the PRA, Bank of England or wider financial services sector.
- Excellent judgement and decision-making capability.
- Strong strategic awareness and the ability to connect the dots across complex issues.
- Strong influencing and relationship-building skills, including with senior stakeholders.
- Experience of developing and supporting people.
- Evidence that you can quickly pick up new and complex technical issues.
- Absolute discretion, integrity and professionalism.
- Ability to work constructively within a team.
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of Insurance or Supervision of the Bank of England
- Experience working in or covering in an ED Office / Private Office
- An established network across the Insurance Directorate.
- Understanding of governance, business planning and strategic delivery. A desire to improve processes by using technology to enhance efficiency and ways of working.

Salary and Benefits Information
We encourage flexible working, part time working and job share arrangements. Part time salary and benefits will be on a pro-rated basis as appropriate.
Salary is circa £25,760-£28,000. In addition, we also offer a comprehensive benefits package as detailed below:
- Currently a non-contributory, career average pension giving you a guaranteed retirement benefit of 1/80th of your annual salary for every year worked. There is the option to increase your pension (to 1/65th) or decrease (to 1/105th) in exchange for salary through our flexible benefits programme each year. The Bank has the discretion to vary standard accrual rates and dial up and dial down rates at any time and to withdraw dial up and dial down options at any time.
- A discretionary performance award based on a current award pool.
- An 8% benefits allowance with the option to take as salary or purchase a wide range of flexible benefits.
- 26 days’ annual leave with option to buy up to 12 additional days through flexible benefits.
- Private medical insurance and income protection.
National Security Vetting Process
Employment in this role will be subject to the National Security Vetting clearance process (and typically can take between 6 to 12 weeks post offer) and the passing of additional Bank security checks in accordance with the Bank policy.
