Full job description

The aim of the Red Balloon Learner Centres is the recovery of bullied and traumatised children. The means by which this is done is by enhancing students' self-esteem, encouraging them to make decisions and gradually take control of their own learning to build their self-confidence. You will be expected to participate fully in the community of Red Balloon-Reading in order to support all students.

We are seeking temporary cover of the part-time role of KS2 Teacher / Primary Outreach Worker, to support our Year 7 students who have missed a significant amount of school. As KS2 Teacher the post will:

  • Plan and deliver Key Stage 2 English, mathematics and science to Year 7 students;
  • Design and implement an individualised learning programme for each student through negotiation;
  • Set up and maintain organised, coherent academic plans;
  • Set up and maintain records of achievement for each student.

As Mentor you will:

  • plan mentoring sessions, specific to each student and their needs;
  • cultivate a mentoring relationship with the pupils;
  • negotiate personal plans with students which will include informal learning;
  • complete Markbook and Mentoring spreadsheet on a daily basis

The person appointed will be subjected to an enhanced DBS check.

Please note, this a fixed term role, available for approximately 9 months.
