Driver / Warehouse & Trade Counter Assistant

Edmundson Electrical – Sowton, Exeter

Salary: £31,000 per annum + excellent bonus scheme
Hours: 42.5 hours per week
Holiday: 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

About Us

Edmundson Electrical are the UK's leading electrical wholesalers, supplying electrical products to contractors, businesses and trade professionals nationwide.

We are looking for a reliable, hardworking and enthusiastic individual to join our friendly team at our Sowton branch in Exeter.

About the Role

This is a varied, hands-on position combining delivery driving, warehouse operations and trade counter customer service.

No two days are quite the same, and we're looking for someone who enjoys being part of a team, takes pride in their work and is willing to get involved in all aspects of branch operations.

You will play an important role in ensuring our customers receive excellent service while supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the branch.

Key Responsibilities

Delivery Driving

  • Deliver electrical products to customers and sites throughout the local area.
  • Load and unload delivery vehicles safely and efficiently.
  • Carry out daily vehicle checks.
  • Ensure deliveries are accurate and completed on time.
  • Represent the company professionally when dealing with customers.

Warehouse & Stores

  • Receive, check and book in deliveries from suppliers.
  • Pick, pack and prepare customer orders.
  • Organise and replenish stock.
  • Maintain a clean, tidy and safe working environment.
  • Assist with stock control and stocktaking.
  • Support the general day-to-day running of the warehouse.

Trade Counter & Customer Service

  • Serve customers at the trade counter in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Assist with product enquiries, orders and collections.
  • Develop product knowledge to help customers find the right products.
  • Build positive relationships with customers.
  • Support the sales team and assist with general branch duties.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Reliable, punctual and hardworking.
  • Friendly and approachable with good communication skills.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working in a physically active role.

Desirable but Not Essential:

  • Previous delivery driving or warehouse experience.
  • Experience working in a trade counter or customer-facing role.
  • Knowledge of electrical products or the electrical wholesale industry.
  • Forklift truck licence.

Previous experience in electrical wholesaling would be beneficial, but it is not essential. We are more interested in finding someone with the right attitude, strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
