Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Deputy Head Greenkeeper to join our dynamic groundskeeping team. This pivotal role requires a minimum of five years’ senior greenkeeping experience, demonstrating leadership, technical expertise, and a passion for maintaining exceptional golf course conditions. As Deputy Head Greenkeeper, you will support the Head Greenkeeper in overseeing daily operations, ensuring the highest standards of turf health, course presentation, and grounds maintenance are consistently achieved. Your proactive approach and extensive knowledge will help foster a vibrant, well-maintained environment that enhances the player experience and upholds our reputation for excellence

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Greenkeeper in managing all aspects of course maintenance, including turf care, landscaping, and groundskeeping activities.
  • Hands on & Supervise and coordinate daily tasks performed by greenkeeping staff, ensuring efficient use of resources and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Oversee the operation and maintenance of machinery and equipment such as excavators, power tools, hand tools, irrigation systems, and other groundskeeping machinery.
  • Implement landscape maintenance plans that promote healthy turf growth, pest control, aeration, fertilization, and soil management.
  • Support construction projects related to course improvements or renovations with technical expertise in horticulture and landscaping.
  • Promote a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement among staff members while adhering to environmental standards.

Skills

  • Extensive experience (minimum five years) in a senior golf course greenkeeping role with proven leadership skills.
  • Strong knowledge of turf management practices including horticulture principles and groundskeeping techniques.
  • Useful, mechanical knowledge related to machinery operation, repair, and routine maintenance of equipment.
  • Good irrigation knowledge of installation, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Skilled in using hand tools for detailed landscaping work and construction projects on the course.
  • Knowledge & Ability to apply chemicals effectively while maintaining high standards of environmental sustainability. Spraying certificate.
