The Vacancy

Job Purpose:

The Pest Control Technician is to provide complete pest control services (including proofing) to Asda to control all pest species covered under our contract and, by thorough inspection, identify any environmental conditions conducive to any pest activity whether covered by the contract or not. This requires visiting stores, supermarkets, depots and living sites at the agreed intervals governed by the Specification Service Delivery and carrying out a detailed inspection in a safe and professional manner with due regard to Health and Safety and Hygiene rules. This would involve providing an effective service to the Asda sites to effectively communicate observations verbally as well as in writing via the reports.


Key Accountabilities

  • Prevent and/or control pest infestation at allocated ASDA Stores and Distribution centres.

  • Carry out scheduled Number of planned preventative maintenance (PPM) visits for pest control.

  • Respond promptly to genuine emergency call outs from the ASDA Helpdesk.

  • Complete reports and communicate on a daily basis with store colleagues and line manager.

  • Build good working relationships with ASDA and CITY work Colleagues.

  • Take “ownership” of other pest related issues, i.e. cleaning/proofing, to resolve ongoing problems.

  • Carry out any on site training with ASDA/CITY colleagues.

  • Use pesticides in a safe and responsible manner as specified under the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health

  • To maintain accurate Time Sheets and Mileage Logs as required.

  • Maintain and keep vehicle and equipment supplied in good working condition.

  • To work in a manner to support the achievement of company KPIs

  • To ensure all systems are working to optimum energy efficiency.

  • When require support other engineering disciplines to provide flexibility to service delivery

  • All work will be completed to the highest standards in an efficient and cost-effective manner, whilst complying with the laid-down Company Health and Safety policy.

  • To carry out all tasks assigned within the allotted time period to the satisfaction of the company and client.

  • To be proficient in the use of written and verbal communication, report writing and recording procedures.

  • To attend training courses as and where necessary and to ensure personal job skills keep pace with technical and business developments.

  • To comply with the Health and Safety at Work Act and the company’s Health and Safety Policy at all times.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • GCSE standard


Professional/Academic/ Vocational Qualifications


  • Royal Society of Health Cert in Pest Control or British Pest Control Association Diploma’s Part 1 and 2.

  • Bird proofing work.

  • Fumigation services

  • PC literate

  • Experience within PEST control environment / industry

  • Retail experience


Specialist Requirements


  • Degree of flexibility required. May be required to stay away from home.

  • Current full driving licence
