Full job description

Summary:

We are looking for an enthusiastic, switched-on and hard working individual to start ASAP as a formal Gardener ready to assist the existing Estate Manager to oversee the smooth running of the Principals' country residence.

Experience in the management of FORMAL gardens and a robust horticultural knowledge is essential.

The estate is currently made up of circa 70 acres with a 17,000 sq ft house, both of which will be expanded in the near future. There is already a small but high energy team already in situ.

This will predominantly be a Monday to Friday role, working 7:30am to 4:30pm, however some out of hours work will be required either to deal with emergencies or via arrangements with the principals.

Responsibilities:

Maintenance of FORMAL gardens to include:

- Plant, prune, and maintain formal gardens and landscape areas

- Shrub/flower bed maintenance , mowing, hedge cutting, feeding, pest control, strimming, leaf blowing

- Dig trenches and holes for planting or installing new features

- Use power tools and hand tools to build, repair, and maintain outdoor structures and equipment

- Management of irrigation systems to ensure adequate watering of plants and lawns

- Conduct regular inspections of the grounds to identify any issues or hazards

- Maintain cleanliness of walkways, parking areas, and other outdoor areas

-Basic tree surgery (no climbing) & maintenance

- Collaborate with team members to complete assigned tasks in a timely manner

Experience:
- Previous experience in managment of formal gardens essential
- Knowledge of power tools and mechanical equipment, including ride -on mowers, used in grounds maintenance
- Ability to operate and maintain irrigation systems
- Strong understanding of planting, pruning, feeding, pest control and maintenance techniques for various plants and trees
