A further position has been made available to join Opkill in Leicestershire. Immediate start available for the right person.

Opkill Pest Control Limited are a successful growing business within the Midlands, South West and Northern England, and now in Phoenix, USA.

A new and exciting opportunity has been made available for a level 2 qualified pest control technician to join our growing team, in Leicestershire/Derbyshire.

Candidates with no previous experience or qualifications may be considered with suitable transferable skills in building and landscaping.

We require people who have the right attitude to be flexible, go that extra little for customers and the business, conscientious, organised and innovative.

The area of work will mainly be between Leicestershire, but occasionally Derbyshire or other business areas as required.

You'll be experienced at using chemicals and equipment to deal with an array of insects and animals such as rats, mice, foxes, moles and birds. Full knowledge of H&S in the industry with a valid Level 2 certificate and your CPD points certificate for 2024.

Your day-to-day duties will include:

  • investigating and identifying pests
  • finding out how pests are getting in
  • choosing a method of control
  • spraying chemicals to get rid of insects
  • laying poison and traps or using air guns to control birds and animals
  • repairing an area to stop pests returning
  • advising people how to prevent further problems
  • completing reports and keeping records
  • handling and storing chemicals
  • getting rid of dead or captured animals

You'll need/must have:

  • The right attitude to want to be successful in your role
  • The conviction to study in your own time to help pass mandatory industry qualifications and updating your training skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • A full, clean driving licence
  • Confidence with maths for calculating doses of chemicals
  • Practical skills to investigate problems
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn correct health and safety and legislation for the industry
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn how chemicals affect the environment
  • Basic building skills are also advantageous.

Your normal working day is Monday to Friday, 8.30 am to 5.00pm, although during the summer, out of hours work is common and offered. Your day, on occasion will go beyond 5.00pm to complete customer needs.

You'll often work alone, driving to jobs in a van.

You will work indoors or outside. You may will need to crawl into confined spaces and climb ladders on occasion, so need to be proficient with confined spaces and working at heights.

Package

Depending on previous skills, qualifications and experience, from £11.44/hr initially.

Expectations of OTE £28k+ (pro-rata) in first year including commission, bonus and overtime.

Overtime available and an attractive, uncapped commission structure.
