Purpose of the Role

The Studio & Community Manager is responsible for creating an exceptional member experience whilst ensuring the smooth, safe and commercially successful operation of the studio.

This is a hands on role responsible for daily operations, customer experience, community building, instructor management, studio led tuition, marketing activity and income generation.

The successful candidate will live and breathe the NOVA values, creating an environment where every person feels welcome, supported and inspired to return.

Key Responsibilities

Studio Operations

  • Open and close the studio each day scheduled to.
  • Complete opening and closing checklists, adhering to Health and Safety procedure.
  • Ensure the studio is always clean, organised and beautifully presented.
  • Carry out regular health and safety checks.
  • Maintain stock levels including refreshments, retail items and cleaning supplies.
  • With support from Directors, liaise with contractors regarding repairs and maintenance.
  • With support from Directors, ensure compliance with Health & Safety, Fire Safety and GDPR requirements.
  • Manage booking software and class scheduling.
  • Handle member enquiries professionally via email, telephone and social media.
  • Resolve member concerns quickly and positively.

Customer Experience

  • Welcome every member and visitor personally following our ‘NOVA way’.
  • Build genuine yet professional relationships with members.
  • Deliver an exceptional wellness and hospitality experience.
  • Create a calm, premium environment.
  • Encourage community engagement.
  • Gather and act upon customer feedback proactively, to inform improvements.
  • Ensure every class runs smoothly from arrival through to departure.

Instructor Management

Recruit, onboard and support freelance instructors, inline with NOVA resourcing policy and GDPR.

This includes:

  • Verifying qualifications.
  • Checking insurance.
  • Maintaining copies of certificates.
  • Completing onboarding documentation.
  • Studio induction.
  • Timetable coordination.
  • Ongoing quality monitoring.
  • Conducting class observations.
  • Providing feedback and coaching where appropriate.
  • Supporting instructors to deliver the NOVA brand consistently.

Marketing & Community Growth

Lead local marketing activity to increase awareness, engagement and memberships.

Responsibilities include:

  • Planning monthly marketing campaigns.
  • Managing the studio social media platforms.
  • Creating engaging content including photography, reels and stories.
  • With support from the directors, developing email marketing campaigns.
  • Together with the Directors, maintain the website with current information.
  • Building partnerships with local businesses.
  • Together with the Directors, attend local community events.
  • Develop referral campaigns.
  • Supporting ideas for member retention initiatives.
  • Promoting workshops and special events.
  • Monitoring campaign performance and engagement.

Income Generation & Commercial Performance

Actively contribute to the commercial success of the business.

Including:

  • Driving membership growth.
  • Maximising class occupancy.
  • Increasing retail sales.
  • Promoting workshops and events.
  • Developing corporate wellbeing opportunities.
  • Building relationships with local employers.
  • Creating seasonal offers.
  • Identifying new ideas for income streams.
  • Supporting achievement of monthly revenue targets.
  • Monitoring KPIs and reporting performance to the Directors.

People Leadership / Stakeholder Management

  • Build positive relationships with all freelancers.
  • Foster an inclusive and supportive culture.
  • Promote continuous learning and development.
  • Lead regular instructor meetings.
  • Support conflict resolution where required.
  • Ensure the NOVA culture is consistently reflected by all team members including freelancers.

Essential Criteria

The successful candidate must have:

Qualifications

  • Fully qualified Yoga Teacher with at least 150 hours experience.
  • Fully qualified Barre Instructor and/or Pilates Instructor.
  • Current First Aid qualification.
  • Safeguarding awareness.
  • Health & Safety awareness.

Experience

  • Experience managing or supervising within a wellness, fitness, hospitality or leisure environment.
  • Experience delivering successful social media campaigns.
  • Experience creating digital content.
  • Experience growing memberships or customer engagement.
  • Experience using booking systems.
  • Experience managing freelancers or instructors.
  • Experience handling customer enquiries and complaints.
