Full job description

Brand Marketing Executive

Custodian of a 145-year British marque — local, national and international.

Company Barker Shoes Ltd

Location Northamptonshire, England — with regular travel to London showrooms, retail stores and international markets

Reports to Managing Director / Head of Brand

Contract Full-time, permanent

Barker

For over 145 years, Barker has stood among the defining names of Northamptonshire and English shoemaking. Founded in 1880, Barker has built its reputation on Goodyear-welted craftsmanship, enduring design and an uncompromising respect for the materials and methods that distinguish a truly British shoe. Today that legacy reaches discerning customers through our own retail stores, an expanding e-commerce presence, a global wholesale network and carefully chosen export markets.

We are now seeking a Brand Marketing Executive to act as guardian and amplifier of that name — a commercially astute, creatively confident marketeer who will elevate the desirability of the Barker brand at every level: locally, nationally and on the international stage.

The Role

This is a senior brand role for someone who understands that heritage is not nostalgia but an asset to be sharpened. You will own the way Barker is seen, spoken about and felt across all channels and territories — translating 145 years of provenance into a contemporary, aspirational and commercially productive brand presence. Working in close partnership with our design and product-development, retail and e-commerce teams, you will ensure that every campaign, collection and customer touchpoint reinforces a single, elevated brand idea.

What You Will Own

Brand Stewardship & Elevation

— Define and protect the Barker brand identity, voice and visual standards across every market and channel, ensuring absolute consistency from the shop floor to the international press.

— Drive a measurable uplift in brand desirability, perception and equity, repositioning the house for a discerning, design-led customer.

— Lead the brand and product 'upgrade' agenda — refreshing presentation, storytelling and customer experience so that the marque is felt to be current, premium and worth aspiring to.

Media — Local, National & International

— Own Barker's media presence across all three tiers — regional and trade media, national lifestyle and fashion titles, and key international markets.

— Plan and place advertising, editorial and earned-media activity, tailoring the message intelligently to each audience and territory.

— Build and steward the brand's reputation as a serious voice in British craftsmanship and menswear.

Press & Public Relations

— Cultivate enduring relationships with editors, journalists, stylists and media partners across print and digital.

— Author and place compelling press releases, brand features and seasonal stories that secure quality editorial coverage.

— Act as a confident first point of contact for press enquiries, samples and collaborations, representing the house with authority.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

— Partner with the design and product-development teams so that brand narrative and product strategy move as one — shaping how new lasts, leathers and collections are framed to the market.

— Work alongside the retail team to elevate in-store experience, windows, visual merchandising and clienteling, so the physical estate reinforces brand desirability.

— Support the e-commerce and online-marketplace teams with content, campaigns and brand assets that convert digital attention into sales while protecting brand standards.

Campaigns, Content & Product Launches

— Plan, produce and manage premium content for digital and print — directing product and lifestyle photography, social, email, the website and brand collateral.

— Lead integrated launch campaigns for new products and seasonal collections, coordinating PR, retail, wholesale and digital so introductions land with impact.

— Analyse campaign performance against clear commercial and brand metrics, and recommend sharper, better-targeted activity.

Partnerships, Influence & Events

— Identify and develop partnerships with influencers, creators and brand ambassadors whose audience and tone genuinely complement the house.

— Manage collaborations end to end — from selection and brief through to delivery and performance reporting.

— Organise and represent Barker at trade shows, exhibitions, store events and industry occasions, at home and abroad.

The Person We Are Looking For

Essential

— 3+ years in a brand or marketing role, ideally with direct ownership of campaigns and brand standards.

— A genuine feel for premium positioning — you understand what makes a brand desirable and how to protect that perception.

— Demonstrable experience across digital and print marketing, social media and content.

— Exceptional written and verbal communication; you can write copy that sounds expensive and reads effortlessly.

— Strong project-management instincts and the composure to run several campaigns at once without dropping standards.

— A meticulous, creative eye for detail.

Desirable

— Background in luxury, fashion, footwear, heritage or premium retail brands.

— Photography, art-direction or creative-direction experience.

— A working network among press, influencers and PR agencies.

— Fluency with Adobe Creative Suite or Canva.

— Hands-on experience of Shopify, Google Analytics, Meta Business Suite or leading email-marketing platforms.

— Comfort working with international markets and partners.

What We Offer

— Competitive salary, commensurate with experience.

— The rare opportunity to shape the brand of one of Britain's most respected footwear houses.

— Genuine breadth — brand, PR, content, events and product, all in one role.

— Clear scope for career development as the brand grows.

— Generous staff discount on Barker footwear.

— A collegiate, craft-proud working environment.

How to Apply

If you are excited by the prospect of taking a 145-year British marque to a wider and more discerning audience — and believe you can make it more desirable, better known and beautifully presented — we should talk.

Please send your CV together with a short covering letter setting out your relevant experience and why Barker appeals to you. Examples of campaigns, content or coverage you are proud of are warmly welcomed.

Pay: £34,000.00-£42,000.00 per year
